Nordrhein scene?

I am going to be an exchange student in Nordrhein/Westfalen, I don't yet know which city.. I'm hoping for Düsseldorf

What is the metal scene like in this area? Will I be able to see a lot of good shows and such? Thanks

Yeah, I have some buddies living up there (I know them via german boards..) and they keep telling me about fantastic metal clubs there. And EVERY fucking tour has at least 2 gigs there!
But for further information, you have to ask other people, i live in mainz, thats near frankfurt, and about 200 or more kilometres from the "Ruhrpott" (we call a part of the nordrhein area, the Ruhrgebiet so.. It is a traditional industrial area in germany, high population density, named after the river Ruhr.).

Im living in Germany right now and I could tell you the greatest place in the NRW where you could find the metal entertainmetn you are looking for.

If you are infact locationed in Düss...There is Essen, Köln, Bochum and Dortmund...

Essen has a very big club called the Roxy...on saturday nights many of the Wacken Forum members gather there...Also there is a club called the Zeche Carl...almost once or twice a month there are the greatest metal bands in europe playing there..So far I have seen Opeth, Samael, Necrophobic, Macabre, Satyricon, etc.

Dortmund has a club called Spirit...its okay I guess..the crowd in my opinion is a little too young for me...but the metal they play is pretty good..

Köln also has many attracts the Cave Valhalla and la lic or what ever. They also have many concert halls and clubs..but they dont have as many bands that you would probably like playin in them..as compared to Essen, Dortmund, Bochum etc.

So all these cities are relatively close to one another..so have fun.

Where I live now, there is one metal club in the whole state, and it takes four-five hours for me to get there :zombie:

This will be a nice change for me metal-wise

Yeah, that I can imagine! The South doesn't have much of a metal scene. My family has been vacationing in Va since I was born...and well the Vacations were really boring there, cause there were no metal heads on the play ground if ya know what I mean ;-) I actually have relatives in Jax Fl. but I've never been there...heard its beautiful though.

So why are you coming to Germany? Study? or? Are you a German buff?! Have you ever been here before? If not, coming from Fl...Im curious to see how you like it here...

Okie dokie...yeah well keep in touch..ya never know...if you go to Düsseldorf...and ya wanna go to a club one night or something...my friends and I would love to take you with us!!!!!!! I live in Iserlohn with my boyfriend...and its really really close to Düss..so no problem let me know sometimes.

I'm going to study for the most part, but I really want to learn German, etc. I'm not too thrilled with the U.S. right now.. I want to see what else is out there, etc.

I don't really like Jax It's wayyyyyy too hot and humid for my tastes. Anyway, no, I've never been to Germany Can't wait to go.
