Notable Releases to Come 2009 Edition

your subjective opinion is incorrect sir, and i'm sad to hear that about the new one because red did suck

YOU, didn't like it? Really? Wow. You and Andrew are seriously probably the only people I have spoken with who dislike that album. Did you hear/like the first EP's? The only thing I have heard mentioned that turns people off from the band is the vocals, which admittedly grew on me over time. I think The Red Album is phenomenal, BUT the Blue Record does NOT sound like it. I assumed though, that if someone didn't enjoy The Red Album it was probably because that weren't a fan of all the hallmarks that make this band awesome. C'est la vie.

i bought a nice old book yesterday, it's called "norge under hakkorset". it was published in stockholm 1940 and EXPOSES your NAZI REGIME. it was written by anonymous norwegians who could not publish their works in norway at the time out of fear for your oppressive fascist government

how's them beans henrikmain

It's "Hakekorset", not "Hakkorset". And yes, correct, we did get invaded by the Germans, unlike the "neutral" (ahem) Swedes, which resulted in a fascist government. Last time I checked, this was over 60 years ago, so yeah. Not that our current socialist/social democratic government is anything to write home about, though.

no the book is in swedish so it is definitely "hakkorset"

anyway the point is you get to be ashamed of your past and it is funny

I LOVE the first 2 EPs, and listen to them regularly. My main beef with Red was that I got BORED. It just couldn't hold me.

I'll download it again and give it another listen, but don't hold your breath. :)

Hunh, man. Again, first time I've heard anyone say they liked the EPs and not The Red. It's cool though, hopefully you still check out the Blue Record either way- definitely different from all their past works.

Portal's "Swarth" can be ordered directly from Profound Lore now.. official release is still a few weeks off.

Maybe think of them more as an ambient band than black/death? I find it an unique way to explore black metal, especially in the an ambient chaotic way.

Max ... this new track is far more accessible than any of their old stuff, there is actually some "structure"

Also, I fell in love with the album because I listened to it before I was going to sleep a few nights in a row.

I laughed when I first saw Portal. Then I listened, enjoyed, tried to hang myself, and put them on the To Buy list.

I need to dig through this thread because I haven't bought any albums in 6 months. Except something from Miles Davis I think.

That Portal track whisked by my brow without a beat. These lads need to work on adding some structure to their sound, as opposed to playing as frenetic as RC when Nad briefly returns for an intermittent pow wow.

I think that track is as structured as Portal will ever get. Listen with headphones, there is some wicked shit going on there. Some punchy bass guitar as well.
