Obama's Inauguration Speech

Agreed, but still you need to rise up. Government doesn't control the country, the people are supposed to. Government is just supposed to be looking out for their best interest. Problem in America is no one cares, or no one knows any better. When politicians care more about profit than the quality of life for the citizens, the people need to rise up. You fags did it once before, but now because you're getting fucked up the ass behind the scenes instead of upfront no one seems to care enough to do anything, everyone seems to be in denial or something... I FEEL LIKE I AM TAKING CRAZY PILLS!

Any uprising will be quelled by additional mind control/apathy inducing substances in our already overly hormoned/preservitive laced food/water supply. *goes back to hiding in basement with his tin foil hat*

It's a tough world out there Joe.

FTR: The "once before" was when there was a pretty even playing field technological-wise. A musket is a musket is a musket. Shit's not the same anymore.

I'm preparing for Obama's presidency by playing copious amounts of Fallout 3 and preparing myself for life in a barren wasteland. I've already started filling a junk drawer full of bottle caps in my apartment.

I didn't hear the speech yet, but I can definitely say I'm already tired of people talking about what an "amazing experience" it was to listen to it, or that "things are changing for the better, I can feel it!" or "this is the most important day in the history of the United States" or anything like that.

Yeah, hey we got a new president. And he's black. Neat. Who cares? Why does it have to be such a big deal? Dude hasn't even done anything yet and people are already saying the world's magically a better place now.

Get real.

For the record, I voted for him. I'd like to see some of this change he's talking about too, but I'm not going to just assume it's really going to happen until it actually does.

Fucking, thank you, Kevin.

Every motherfucker in my school thinks that he is the savior of humanity.

He's black, he's president, and he has some cool ideals.

HE'S NOT THE FUCKING SAVIOR OF EVERYONE.

Obama is full of shit but he's a lot better that GWB and is a position to do a lot of good for you, so why don't you wait and see if he delivers before criticizing... you know there were people who were so stupid that they cried and thought it was the end of the world when Obama won the election, and while I don't think you're that big of a dumbfuck, I urge you to sit back, keep your judgments in the back of your mind and give the my pals a chance.
Im just tired of people saying this is the greatest thing ever in American history.
give me a break.
Hopefully he and his tools get us out of this mess... without tearing it up more than it already is.

He'd have to try pretty hard to screw up as bad as the last guy, but I expect him to be just another democratic president, with all the good and bad things that come along with that. Having set my expectations low, I leave lots of room to be pleasantly surprised.

Did I say with violence? There are ways to have an uprising, a way to fight back without actually fighting or killing. Political/ideological revolution is the goal.

I didn't say any of that

I usually say "does it even matter who gets elected?," but Palin and McCain ranted so much against scientific progress that at least the vote went to the other guy.

Wake me up in four years so I can do this "voting" thing again.

Now we know brother Obama. We know brother Obama. But I tell you what, if he comes to power come November and he doesn't start pulling troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq, I know a lot of people who are gonna stand up and burn down every office of every Senator that doesn't do his job. All this hell we've been seeing is just the beginning, it's just the beginning. And no matter what happens in the elections, I'll say this. That there is a generation of young black and latino brothers and sisters that are gonna force everyone in this country to make a decision very soon about what side they're going to stand on. And they're a generation of kids who don't give a fuck about national politics. They care about bread. They care about water. They care about housing and they care about justice. And they ain't gonna fucking stand for any of that shit. They're just not gonna take it.
This new generation of blacks and latinos and Muslim brothers and sisters are gonna stand up and make this country an offer it can't refuse. An offer it can't refuse. So wake up! Wake up! Wake up! - Zach de la Rocha - 2007
...

I like De La Rocha's music, but he way overplays the revolutionary angle. As if the minorities who have been doing a fine job of keeping themselves oppressed without the white man are suddenly going to realize they have to fix their own situation if Obama doesn't do it for them.

Bingo. RATM rules but their politics crap is way annoying.

That said however, I think if Zach wasn't so fucking pissed off about everything he wouldn't make a very good frontman, which would make the band more boring, so it balances out I guess.
