Can that be?

I've been owning "Marras" for about two weeks, so I guess I'm not in a position to draw big conclusions. Besides, I don't know how accurate it is to match up both bands against one another, since there are obvious differences between their sounds and the way the instruments are handled.

Still, October Falls = discovery of the year, as I certainly didn't expect the album to be this amazing. And one thing is certain, it is far superior to Empyrium' "Where at Night..."

Discuss or die...

October Falls is good, I'll give you that, but it comes nowhere near Tenhi or Empyrium. Perhaps in a few releases, but right now the difference in quality is pretty substantial

Marras IS a great album, however after just listening to said empyrium album i would have to disagree with you there. Perhaps it's because of the vocals in "Where at night.." which i love so much. I do really like the vocals at the end of the songs off marras, maybe next release they will be more upfront? (hopefully) Nevertheless great albums!

P.S check out vali for more in this style!

Now please give me that Vali-address, since I can't remember it from the interview I read.

What comes to October Falls, there will be more vocals in the future.

Vàli's "Forlatt" and "Marras" are the winning combination if you want to dig new talents in this style. Vàli's guitar-playing is a bit more cristalline between the lines and has a more optimistic feel in places, and they have vocals. However it comes in a plain DVD box, which is a huge drawback as far as I'm concerned :yuk:

I have to say, "Marras" is a small masterpiece. Unlike "Tuoni", it has a depth-like quality that allows it to evolve after repeated listens. Not even Tenhi has this, although "airwut : ciwi" is so distinct and eerie, it becomes more 'noticeable'.

So yes, I might agree that October Falls is on the verge of surpassing Tenhi, although not quite there, simply because "Marras" is "Tuoni pt 2", albeit improved. The next OF release should be a diversion IMO. Mikko should consider releasing an EP just to test some new waters, a la "airwut : ciwi". Something darker, mysterious, thunderous, and acoustically violent.

As for Empyrium, no -- way too soon to approach that league of supreme quality. They are in a class of their own. You're talking 10/10 perfection IMO.

As a matter of fact I've never been into the "Where at Night..." fancy despite countless listens. The hell if I can summon any good reason to justify this rejection.

OK. Out of interest, what do you think of "Songs of Moors..."?

Huge. Gut-gripping rising choirs, genuine melancholy, strong "visual" experience all over.
"Weiland" is one of the few 10/10 albums in my books.
Guess I need to dive back into "Where at Night...". Badly :p

I would say so.

I fucking love this sort of stuff. I just ordered that Vali album as soon as I heard the clips.

Oddly I haven't gotten around to getting October Falls yet. It seems I always remember it only when I have no money. Ok, this time I'll order it, money or not. For the last time, where can I get it with credit card or paypal (paypal prefered)?
