1. I actually think that the purple works well only in certain circumstances. If it's just a solid bright royal purple or a lavendar, then t's just obnoxous, but the quilted top really adds a whole darker look to the guitar as a whole.
2. Why not?

The picks I use are a sort of bluey-purple... 3mm Jim Dunlop 'Big Stubby'. It's funny cos after I started using them I found out Tony MacAlpine uses them exclusively... I guess I'm a fanboi without even trying...
