Finished my last midterm today...they all went sxtremely well except for one. I'm taking an Art of Cinema class this semester and I couldn't make it to class last week because I had rehearsal, so I stopped in right before class to turn in the paper that was due that week, get the name of the movie we were watching that week so i could watch it on my own time and get the paper done on it still, etc. So I asked the guy what chapters to review for the midterm, if there was a study guide I could get from him, if he was giving important notes that I should get from someone else in class, etc.....so he tells me "oh, no midterm, don't worry about it". So I think everything's cool and walk into class on monday and he hands out a 6 page midterm about shit that he never talked about in class or assigned. That guy=douche

If i may vent...
I know most of y'all will think this is stupid as shit, but recently i was made a moderator of a local metal forum because some problems were arising, specifically people getting offneded by people gaybashing and having too much of a black metal mentality. It is frustrating because people are so goddamned polarized. The black metal side is anti-censorship, anti this, anti that and think everyone should feel the same, but on the flipside there are people who get pissed if someone says "the singer from nachtmystium is such a fag, he's a trendhopping poser who doesn't give a shit about real black metal". No one is doing anything bannable, but there is an absolute complete lack of respect on all sides. The problem also comes in that i'm friends with all of them, i've met them all (it's not a huge scene) and none of them are bad people, but you know how things go on the internet.
It's also irritating because i know there's a lot of people who lurk (just like there are here) and i feel that it really makes the seattle scene look horrible because of this bullshit.
Jax, I don't know how you do it girl. It's like fucking babysitting, telling everyone to play nice. You've said as much yourself at times and now I think I *really* get it. Everyone that thinks Jax is too harsh at times, fucking wrong. She works magic here. I'm about to just give up
and before anyone says "it's just a forum", again these are the people who see each other at EVERY show and hang out at EVERY get together... not always all at the same time, but this does bleed into real life and isn't limited to online bullshit. Plus everyone on that forum is a big part of the scene in one sense or another. There's almost no casual fans there, they're all either in bands or go to most every metal show. Fuck it all man.

Well, in no way am I disrespecting the Black metal community but, it sounds like this could be solved with only a slight change in language on their part. I'm also very against censorship however, in this case it seems to go beyond censorship into just deliberately trying to piss people off (If that makes sense to you, because the more I think about it, the less it does to me). I don't see the harm in telling them to replace gay with something else. Like:

There were MANY legitimate points as to why this was stupid, and i personally was not for the rule and it is beign debated. However, this is what kind of mentality we're up against.

So ban his ass. Life's full of rules..societal rules, the laws & rules of the country/state/city we live in, basic rules of common sense, etc. etc. etc..welcome to adulthood, kids.
Stupid or not, we all have guidelines that we need to live by, & thinking a rule is dumb doesn't give anyone the right to break it, be it a guideline on a forum or a criminal law. If they can't behave on a simple internet forum, then screw 'em; make them go away & don't waste any more time on them.

The rest of my story was that I had created two groups on that forum: the kind who worshipped me as the hand of bitchin justice, and the kind who despised me with a bitter vengeance as the crackdown king. Comes with the job, really. I still hear shit every once in a while several years later now about how "If [Ken] were still here, your ass would be IP banned 30 minutes ago!". My username still gets used to inspire fear.
I just couldn't take their shit anymore though. Banning dumbshits and assholes, on the day I quit that place, I just banned the top 10 spammers of useless garbage and the top 10 jackoffs, then deleted myself. Wasn't worth my time.

On a different note. I was watching TV and this crazy redneck whack jobs commercial came on. His gun shop is only about 20 minutes from my house. I may have to take a little drive and meet this guy.

I'd hate having a shop like that near me. I'm pretty fucking glad there's no shop like that in sweden at all afaik. The commercial was pretty funny but a place like that in reality is just fucked up.

There are times I wish some of the people who have messed with this forum would show up at a local show. (Yes, they are all banned, AFAIK)
I was going to post something along the same lines, but you summed it up all right here. Free speech is not a God given right on moderated forums. I can't tell you how many times I've had to tell people that. Remember the Satlin & Hitler moderating crew, Jax?
