Official Off Topic Thread

Yeah :(

My bad for putting the thread on halt.

Fuck it, it's the OT thread. I sympathize with ya Harris, this happens to me all the time when I find pics or old Holiday cards from my mom. Just recently I found a list of stuff she made for me to get for when she visits (Circa 1996), right after I got my house. She died 3 years later. Not a day goes by without me thinking of her, no matter how long the thought lasts....

The guy that tried out last night. His name is Jay.

He was awesome. He learned 3 complete songs (Death to the False, You've Traveled Many Miles and The Coming of Chaos... i believe they're all on our myspace... link in my sig) and was able to get through a 4th pretty well... didn't play all the beats right but did a great job. All in about 6 days, so that's a great sign. We were worried about how quickly we could learn a set because we also want to focus on new material, but it looks like it'll be easy to get him up to speed real quickly and start playing shows, and he really wants to do tours and stuff so we may be able to do a small west coast tour later this summer/fall (Which, of course, i will let everyone know of when it happens and encourage y'all to check out some of the dates).

The best thing is (i was unsure of this until i heard him) he's not a metal drummer. He can absolutely rock it, but he's more into jazz drumming i guess. He's done many styles, so he's diverse and is just going to make Skelator fucking amazing.

Needless to say, I'm goddamned excited.

Cool news, I'll be looking forward to it. Style diversity is a huge plus for drummers of ANY kind of music...(See Bjorn Fryklund...)

Oh, i'm very familiar with OE.

Imagine that with a hangover about 10 times worse. That's why i just stick with Micky's if I'm going for that kinda nasty crap. It IS good when you want to get fucked up and you're on a budget though.

Oh, and i don't know if it exists outside of the northwest, but we have Rainier Beer which isn't bad, but there's also the Rainier Ale which is lovingly known as "Green Death". The bottle is green, not the liquid

My teacher is trying to convince me to do a master class with Manuel Barrueco in (I think) May. Can't decide if I want to do it. It'd be a great learning experience and it looks pretty good on paper/a resume to say I did it, but I don't know if I feel worthy or not and it'd just be another thing on top of my already large pile of things I really need to bust my ass on over the next few months.

In other news, I just inadvertently tore a huge blister on my toe right open. It was pretty awesome.
