RIP Bo Diddley. :(

Zach - no, didn't find any. I went to Virginia on vacation, but ended up spending all five days in the hotel room with the kids sick. Dog sick. I did get some Yuengling's, finally! Lager and porter - the porter's freakin' awesome.

I have some other pics for updates on the beer thread I need to get on there though.

Anthony Bourdain did an article on celebrity chefs. It's funny as hell, especially the RR section. If none of you have ever watched No Reservations, do so sometime. It's an awesome show. RR is also the butt of many jokes.

 I just read it again for the first time in a while and when I got to Sandra Lee:

Pure evil. This frightening Hell Spawn of Kathie Lee and Betty Crocker seems on a mission to kill her fans, one meal at a time. She Must Be Stopped. Her death-dealing can-opening ways will cut a swath of destruction through the world if not contained. I would likely be arrested if I suggested on television that any children watching should promptly go to a wooded area with a gun and harm themselves. What’s the difference between that and Sandra suggesting we fill our mouths with Ritz Crackers, jam a can of Cheez Wiz in after and press hard? None that I can see. This is simply irresponsible programming. Its only possible use might be as a psychological warfare strategy against the resurgent Taliban--or dangerous insurgent groups. A large-racked blonde repeatedly urging Afghans and angry Iraqis to stuff themseles with fatty, processed American foods might be just the weapon we need to win the war on terror.

I spat pretzels and tea all over myself.

I'm hot/cold on Bourdain. Sure he get's trashed and goes to badass, non-touristy places. But he's also got an ego problem that he doesn't try hard to hide in many of his articles/reviews I've read. He's always crapping on most of the cooks/chefs on the Food Network and much of his criticism seems to stem from the fact that they've all "made it" financially from Food Network, while his show wasn't well received. Seems a bit jealous, imo.

While I don't care for Rachel Ray's personality or cooking style:Puke:, I give her a lot of credit for doing what she's done. Her target market is huge, for better or worse, and she's done a great job of getting her products to them. But of course Bourdain rips her apart, along with Paula Dean. The reality is that the vast majority of people don't have time to shop everyday for fresh/expensive/exotic ingredients and whip together gourmet meals. That's why Rachel Ray/Paula Dean are successful.

either way you look at it:

Rachel Ray* > people who spend time arguing about how attractive or intelligent she is on the internet

*=substitute any big-name celebrity

Hot, rich and an actual chef.
