Nope, I can't figure the guy out either to be honest. I should have stopped in my last post at "McCain's politics scare me".

I dunno, pretty much anything else I say will be me talking out my ass to be quite honest. I have my own opinions on things and my own gut feeling on the candidates. Nothing more, nothing less. So for now, I'm out of this discussion... it's for the best :)

That's the thing. I would say it would be exponentially more important to pick apart a candidates views if there where actually more to choose from! I'm voting for sure in November and I only have the option of picking Obama and McCain. It's not like either of them cater in anyway to what I think is correct, but I don't want to see another war so Obama gets my vote. Of course it seems these days most politicians have sucked, screwed and murdered their way to top, so who's to say either candidate would be better than Charles Manson?

Impotence in what way? I see him leading the country into repairing the damage in the international community wrought by the past 20 years. You don't see McCain starting another war? The way he's talked about Iran, Cuba, and North Korea? McCain wants the Iraq war (and consequently the Afghan war) to continue until we've "won", whatever that means.

fuck them damn wars, if we didnt let them in the country they wouldnt be flying planes into tall buildings now would they. we need jobs in this country that are going to get the people off the streets, cant cry about crack heads and whores when theres nothing else to do. We need jobs for those that have worked their whole life that are going to keep up with the ever demanding insurance companies, school boards, real estate pigs, corporate oil and the reaming the other utilities are about to put to us, to cover their ass's PLUS profits, WTF... its been like running backwards for 15 years now. Who the hell was it said something about some SUCKING SOUND ? ya what an asshole that guy was.

And that gets back to what I have been saying all along. We NEED more emphasis on scientific research here and in all countries of the world. People need to stop being fucking greedy about scarce resources, stop murdering each other over stupid shit and start tolerating each other to the point of working together. There are incredible and scientifically valid ideas that could power the world, but to most that's not important. If we managed to find economical ways of making it to the Moon, we could mine enough Helium 3 to power most of the world. Although that may be a little too optimistic, consider one ton of it put through a fusion reaction could power the homes of 10,000,000 people for a few years.

The point of that rant is this:

Even with our huge economy, we in the US and other developed nations still need the cooperation, support and input of all nations. Trying to develop our western society while there are those still living in the dark ages seems pointless. There are those who fear that technological change. Blowing them up just makes it worse. As much as there is wrong with our society, all of it is tolerable to me and most other people. Which is why until people begin to adopt a free society, we won't really make much progress.

Case and point: imagine for a second if Africans had access to the outstanding educational resources we did. There is SO much to be discovered by analyzing plant and animal life in the rain forest. As it stands now, only a hand full of the potentially world changing discoveries have been made so far.

I want the war to finish when it's done. Leaving now would cause incalculable damage to the Middle East.

Obama's wish to bring these maniacs to the table and discuss issues will prove pointless and ineffective, exactly as the UN's efforts with Saddam proved to become.

My wife sent me an interesting article. I'll have to find it and link it here. It speaks of the peace achieved in the world, a peace brought about by the "Americanization" of third-world countries, growing a global economy around American democratic principles. The only damaging aspect in the world is the media, whose doom and gloom portrayal of every bomb that goes off in the world leads watchers to think the world is going to hell.

As I said, I also feel there is a lot wrong with America, but they are faults that I can live with. The celebrity worship, reality TV, MTV etc lifestyles are fucked up. But I still don't think it is even on the same page as places where women/children are beaten to death for falling in love or left to burn in a building because they weren't wearing their Burkas.

If by Americanized you mean that, than I agree. It would be great if people could be free like us, but not at the expense of becoming retarded. I don't mean to say anything bad about where I live, but it really does seem that people are becoming too focused on stupid shit. The American Idol winner received more airtime than the phoenix lander for fuck sakes!

Damnit, it's going to be a hot day today and the following next days.

I just woke up (it's 5.13 AM now) and thought about getting to work two hours earlier than usual to paint the porch I'm renovating. It's more confortable to paint in a decent outside temperature without the million K sun burning on your back.

This is a good post. however, since i see the "political debate" thread has been bumped, I'll just leave it at "+1".

We got some pretty killer thunderstorms here today (Wash. DC area). Some pretty good wind damage in areas and a couple tornados South of me. It never fails that we get only enough of the storms for a good lightning show and a decent power outage.

You're from Finland yeah? Must be an absolutely scorching 10 degrees Celsius up there... :p

Holy Batman thats hot!* :p

*last summer we had a couple of weeks or 40+ degrees Celsius, now thats hot! :OMG:

I suppose you'd get the last laugh when we complain about it being cold here when it gets down under 10 degrees Celsius though...

Yeah, you're right. I've experienced almost -40 C degrees here. :D

btw, I was grabbing some beers midtown and when I left approx. 8.15 PM the gauge said 25 degrees of celsius. So I guess the days temp was near 30 today also.:Smug:

So, I'm taking the plunge. I'm going to audition for my church's band.

Twenty-four years on the guitar, and I've never played in a band... that's creepy.

Even if it's "just a church band", I'm incredibly shaky about the whole thing.
