I've never heard of that game, but it seems fucking awesome! Got to try and learn to play that properly.

Hey Ken, I think we should form a 'SymX Go club' here (i.e. a club for SymX fans who like to play Go)

In order to join, all candidates must:
1) Have no job
2) Like to talk in forums about how much they like to kill bugs (i.e. really really bored)
3) Ready to get pwnd :Smug:

EDIT: Nah I just started learning it too, awesome game! :kickass:

We have so many bugs around here I cant say if I've seen on of those or not. Seems to have a interesting leg arrangement. Currently we are infested with these flys that were released for some reason relating to the gypsy moth. They land in swarms, I just let them tickle my back and dont bother with them... Its kind of like a massage... you would get nothing done outside if you spent your time shu-ing them off. I was told years ago by a farmer I worked for that after college he spent a summer exploring Australia and the flys were bad and thats what people did, was just ignored them.

Anyhoo... Meedley, what is you college schedual again ? Your done next May or what ? Still in during the summer, ect. ? Would be great to get done and do some touring, just another knotch in your belt, unless something else comes up first. Like gaining another experience and craft before you get into teaching... at which point your live may become very routine. A friend of mine band did some small time N. East touring one year in the late 80's (pop metal) and he said it did so much for his playing and knowledge, it was when he really came into his own. He has been a very professionally disciplined, local semi professional for over two decades and is very diverse now. Hands on experience rules.

I'm taking this summer off and then I've got three more semesters, so I'll do this fall, next spring, and next summer. I'll graduate mid-late July of '09. I agree 100% with your friend. My playing and (and state-of-mind regarding it for that matter) are always at their best when I'm gigging regularly. There really isn't any better way to whip oneself's playing into shape than gigging.

To followup, I called the guy back today and told him that at least for now I couldn't do it. There are two stints where I'd be away from school for a week or more at a time (and several others that would keep me away for a few days). I know for sure that my isntructors would support me and find ways to work around it (being that they all are or have been in the same position and fully encourage us doing these things), but both of the long stints are right around the time I'll be doing my junior recital, which is a greater priority right now. It would just interfere with too much on my end, and I also don't want to commit to something only to have to bail on them later, leaving them in a bad spot. Long story short (ok...not so much I guess), he said he'd keep me on their call-list and get ahold of me next time they need someone...so at least the door is still open. The avenue I'm non-shalantly pursuing for right when I get out of school is to play cruise ships. The money is good, especially once you consider that you're at sea most of the time with your room&board, meals, etc. all paid for. I couldn't really complain too much about get paid to play guitar whilst traveling the world on a cruise-liner. It's not something I want to do for too long (no more than a year or two), but it'd be a good way to fill a resume and pay down my college debts pretty significantly.

@ Meedley

That will be the end of you... playboy for life

I can already hear you playing Primas "Im a Gigolo" while enjoying a few cocktails

Life's great sometimes. :kickass:

It's 4:20 AM and I just woke up. I went to bed at 8:00PM after being awake for like 36 hours. I feel weird.

Any weekend where I get to have dinner with Lana Lane & Erik Norlander (and make plans to get together with them again), and end up with Jeff Scott Soto's phone number, is a damn good weekend. Yay for BARfest :)
