he tried calling me this morning but i was sleeping so i turned off my phone instead. It was awesome.

Noble: dude, fuck 'im. Part of having roomates is expecting them to be doing their thing. After 10 or 11 on a weekend, it's more than reasonable to expect you to want to get up and do things. I'm not saying you should be marching up and down the hall banging pots and pans together, be respectful and all, but if you're making some noise then what of it? You're paying rent too right?

I'd bring it up if i were you sooner than later. Don't be a dick, just say "by the way, i've been throwing you a bone since you've been sleeping late, but I have stuff to do in the morning and I'll do my best not to wake you up, but just be aware that I'm not going to go out of my way to be silent". There's nothing wrong with that and it'll make you happier and not build up resentment until your mind starts rotting from the inside-out and you snap and go in and unleash on everyone with an AK-47. Which will happen. All because you couldn't play checkers with the old man down the hall because your roomate was sleeping. It's a shame :(

In any communal living situation, you can't let problems brew like that. I got stuck, in my old building, living next door to a crack dealer and across the hall from crack-smoking spousal-abusers. You're only going to get more pissed off if you don't take care of it asap and then when you do approach the situation, it'll be a lot more heated and a lot more involved. I'm assuming you're in a dorm and got randomly paired with someone? Those have so much potential to be shitty situations. That's why I had my own place for my first two years of school (that and the fact that it was cheaper for me at the time), but that might not be an option for you. I refused to get a roommate until I knew for certain I'd be able to get along with someone well enough to be around them 90% of the time and that I could count on them to make good on their half of the bills. Best of luck with that though.

Hello, I'm new to these forums and I'm loving Symphony X so far!

I live in Amsterdam, Holland, and yeah, it's pretty awesome here =D

Anyway, I hope you guys welcome me here, cause I think you're all cool fellas. From what I see nearly everyone who has posted here could be quite intelligent, better then most forums anyway.

So yeah.

Oh, and my name is Angelo

Thanks guys!

Well, I'm hoping he will be partied within the next few weeks and I won't have to get pissy over it!

Drew, did you live by yourself in an apartment by yourself or with a roommate? I actually don't even know anyone here, so a roomy is out of the question. There are a lot of places renting around here and I'm wondering if that will be better?

I spent my first two years living by myself. It had it's advantages, but now I've got a roommate which has proven better in several ways. That said, I only felt comfortable living with someone once I found someone I knew I was good enough friends with for it to be a good living situation and was sure that I wouldn't have to worry about reliability for rent, bills, respecting my things, etc. If it's feasible, try getting your own place IMO. If you find someone down the road you feel you could live with, go for it...but right now it sounds more like you aren't in the ideal living situation so you've nothing to lose in just looking at other options.

here's some useless info. i traced my family tree, and turns out im half viking! yeah thats nothing for anyone else haha, most of you probably are too, but i just didn't think i had any of that blood in me, so i was so happy to see that i do. now i know where my love of folk and viking metal comes from haha. it's not much news, but it makes me happy so ner! :p

omg Charis is a viking! What a lovely fit, I'm happy for ya :headbang:

Haha, yeah man, I'll keep that in mind.

I been checking out some CD's lately, or well, downloading them, heh. Don't get me wrong, I buy a lot of CD's too. In fact, I actually started downloading CD's for the first time in my life since yesterday, that's right, yesterday. Pretty damn awesome, to be honest. I'm not sure if we're allowed to talk about matters like this on this forum, if not, then someone, please shut me up.

Just wanted to add how awesome Alice In Chains is. I'm looking forward to hearing more stuff from Symphony X.

Oh another note, I'm heading too Opeth in November. Cynic and The Ocean are opening for them. I heard Cynic is a fucking awesome band, I'm not sure about the latter though, we'll see.

OK, thanks! I'll definitely have to look into something like that. I'm hoping it's also cheaper.

Holy shit CARCASS!!!!

That was the best fucking show all year, and I luckily got to see Necrophagist open as well! Great to see Muhammed, Michael Amott, and Bill Steer in one evening, some of the best metal guitarists out there. If this tour is coming around, don't miss it, I feel really lucky to have seen these death metal legends.

Hello, Erik =D

So, how are you, man? I'm just listening to Symphony X at the moment.

that's cool man. haven't listened to symphony x in a while but it won't be long until I listen to V again.

I just woke up and I'm still fucking sore from the at the gates show. my fuckin' neck. shit.

you can see the audience better in this one. I can actually see myself in this one getting tossed around like a fucking ragdoll lol. this was the song before the last and the crowd is pretty fucking wild still.

@ the room mate/living by yourself topic...
I'm living by myself at the moment and I'm having like the best time of my life. my brother was staying here for a just a few days and while he's very trustworthy etc it's definitely not the same thing. freedom of being alone ftw.

So...

Metallica - Death Magnetic: Neither amazing nor shitty. Pretty solid actually.
Lunatic Soul - s/t (Mariuz Duda of Riverside solo album): Pretty damn good. Like Voices EP + The Great Cold Distance

I'm looking more and more forward to getting the Lunatic Soul release. I've heard Death Magnetic, and I pretty much agree. The drumming and the guitar solos all blow large farm animals, and the abundance of auto-tuning is a bit annoying, but I think most of the songs are solid. Solid enough for me to buy it at least.

Agree about Metallica, but haven't heard of that Lunatic Soul project. Should check it out.

I thought Lunatic Soul was a little boring. 2/5
This new Mostly Autumn I'm listening to now is boring as well. 1½/5
New Falconer - Boring and shitty. 1/5
Andromeda's latest was decent I guess... but still pretty boring. 2½/5
I won't even (ILLEGALLY lolz) download Death Magnetic. ?/5
