Promotes P90X-type thing, or the diet? With P90X2, there isn't too much to be skeptical about. It is packed with a bunch of stuff that most people have probably never done before, which will always yield great results. When you do something you are not used to, your will adjust faster. I've been working out for a long time, and I've never done 90% of what P90X2 has me doing right now.
What motivates me? I've always been a weak/skinny guy, so it was just one of those things I became obsessed with changing. A diet and routine like this is very good for you, so at least my overall health will improve. You look better, you are more physically capable, and you just feel a lot better when you exercise. You feel more awake, focused, happy, confident, etc.
I used to weigh 130lbs (I'm 6'1). After 3 years of training, I ended up around 190lbs, with a lower body fat percentage. I've been at this stage for a few years now, so I need to do something drastic to break this plateau. It's not for everybody; I just really love this kind of stuff :)

I'm pretty sure that if you just tried it out, and tried to it seriously, you'd start to enjoy it. You'd complete week one, and then when it repeats for week two, you'd see that all of a sudden, you are capable of a lot more, and with better form/control. You'd become addicted to that progress. Before I started exercising, I hated the entire concept.

my diet:
eat a lot of junk one day, eat less junk the other day - repeat.
no smoking, no coffee, whisky~ 2 times a month/when I feel like it.
I skip fruit and drink freshly pressed juice instead. don't care about vegetables, but lettuce and stuff often accompanies non-homemade meals.

works great weight-wise considering I sit on my ass pretty much all day long.
the only exercise is daily walks in summer and irregular walks other seasons.

I call it the "I don't really give a shit"-diet. IDRGAS90X, for short.

I just like to run. I love to pop in the headphones, and just lose myself in music as I go on an adventure! I try to run at least 4 miles, usually 4 or 5 times a week. I do eat pretty healthy, but I do love my candy and junk food every now and then. I guess I just have a fear of getting fat lol. There's a lot of overweight people in the states, and in Texas, and I would just hate to be one of them.

This sounds like me, except the sitting on ass part.

I try not to eat any junk snack food (e.g. chips) and I rarely eat sweets, but my main courses occasionally aren't the healthiest (pizza, purgers, pasta). I do like salads from time to time (almost always with some kind of meat on them) and I like most vegetables but mostly stay away from fruits. For breakfast I usually just eat a granola bar or something, since big breakfasts make me just want to go back to bed.

I rarely drink coffee anymore, and I don't smoke. I do drink, although my new year's resolution was to give up beer entirely (I've slipped up a few times) since I believe this will help me lose excess weight. So only hard liquor for me, although I try to stay away from rum due to its high sugar content (although I love it), whiskey, and Jägermeister (I don't care for the latter two).

My exercise mostly consists of running for 30-45 minutes about 3-4 times a week.

I was drinking 2-3 coffees (1 cream-2 sugar, or double-double) every day. I miss it :(
Black coffee, although good, just does not provide the same satisfaction, especially since it's not based on a caffeine addiction; I just love the stuff!

Never had any sort of planned diet or restrictions on what I eat. I'm 177cm ( 5'10'' ) and weigh 66kg (145lbs) and I've been the same for some 3 years. Some exercise helps.

I'm 6'1 and around 185lbs right now (lost 5lbs over the XMAS holidays - explain that... damn metabolism). I'd like to finish around 205lbs. It takes so much effort to gain weight :( I lose weight very easily, and always unintentionally.

6'01 here, no idea how much I weight right now. Like Gentleman though it's much harder and takes longer for me to gain weight than to lose it. lol

Other than my daily mug of coffee which I love, I don't smoke, drink, or eat junk food (like at all). I did however gain some weight in 2011, and not the good kind of weight, due to sitting on my ass pretty much all day and rarely working out. Gotta fix that in 2012.
