Listening to OSI. It's decent, but... pretty boring. Feels unenthusiastic. Kevin Moore sounds bored when he sings.

Agreed. I don't know what's up with OSI - I know that both Jim and Kevin can do better.

Have you heard Kevin's Graveyard Mountain Home? It. is. incredible. One of my all-time favorites.

Sooo goood.

there's NOTHING memorable about it. It just drones on and on with its little fiddly prog passages and pads, and meanders about like a mountain brook headed downstream.

Musically, Building an Empire is instead like standing downstream of a dam that just detonated. It's NOT metal, but the music has power, while Mute is pretty much what it is. "Oh damn, is it muted? Oh, it's not... coulda sworn..."

Eh, it's better than Blood. Although, "For Nothing" is probably the worst song they've ever recorded and the album is a little too short. Other than that, I think it's great. They definitely didn't break any new ground, but it's OSI sounding like OSI. I can always go for more of that.

Just saw the video they made for that song and thought it was quite good. The song I mean, the video is just some mutant laying on his back.

I just read on Wikipedia that the new Circus Maximus album will be released on June 1. I figured that it'd be out sooner, but.....finally!

Finally indeed!!!!!

Their second album came out so quickly, and then....... nothing.

I hope they add a little maturity and sophistication to the 3rd album. I love their first 2, but I'm kinda changing style preferences, so I'd prefer less obvious prog, and more subtlety. :headbang:

Now that I think about it, this is exactly how I felt after the first listen. My second listen was on the following day, and it just clicked for me. I loved it.

Opinion understood.

Fuck. First big let-down of the year. In Mourning - The Weight of the Oceans did not impress. I mean, it's not bad, but I had very high expectations.
It's a lot more proggy than their previous albums, maybe some folks here would like it.

I'll keep it in my playlist and see if it grows on me. Weirder things have happened.

Lol, that video is ridiculous. Saw it yesterday. "Art" at it's finest.

The song definitely stands out from the rest of the album in a way so I'm not too surprised to see it as a video single. While it's still around their usual tempo and has a laid back vibe, it comes off a bit different from their typical style. Has this really lame "indie" feel to it that I'm not interested in hearing from OSI. Whatever. Hope it gets them more fans.
