Discuss the original soundtracks of the mentioned items in the title. I'll start: I was reminded of a wonderful animated, British film called The Snowman, if any of you remember/have watched it. I remember only bits and pieces of the score but it was probably amazing. Can any of you verify this?

yes, the snowman was a great animated short film. very touching and well done. won several awards actually. the closing song is fantastic, haunting and memorable. i remember it from when i was very young. the rest of the soundtrack (it being a silent film anyway) was mostly just bit segments of classical styled background music, and i cant pick out any specifics moments of it from memory. ill research a bit...

Yeah, the Snowman is a great old movie/soundtrack. It's all piano work done by George Winston. He's a great minimalist pianist and composer in general. Has a bunch of cds, Forest and Winter into spring are fantastic.

Surprised no one's mentioned the horrendous Nightwish cover of the song from that movie [The Snowman], which they plastered on one of their major LPs as the album closer ("Walking in the Air"). It's basically identical to an extended version of the original, but their singer's vocals are hideous and flat and the distorted guitars are wildly tasteless...it adds some string stuff too.

The original soundtrack was great, I've never been able to find anything more than the original version of "walking in the air" on soulseek. Oddly enough I do have a piano book for the movie's soundtrack. I have an old, official VHS of the movie, too bad there doesn't seem to be a DVD in this country. PM me if you want the original song, I think it's naughty to post links on here (even though you apparently CAN NOT buy it officially without importing it).

You may not be able to buy the soundtrack, but the album Forest is just as good (as it features 3 or 4 songs from the movie) ((including walking in the air)).

Ummmmmm......don't remember it...what was it like...

I have been listening lately to Fist of the North Star (Anime) Soundtrack. This soundtrack has various styles of music including Japanese heavy metal from an unknown band called 'Komodo Band', some very touching, serene orchestral work, some rock sounding bits, very epic moments, and some whimsical moments. Highly recommended.

re: the snowman, it was sung by a v famous welsh lad called Aled Jones, i believe he was classically trained and only about eleven years old when it was recorded. Of course his voice has deepend with age and regulary sings with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

If Bladerunner counts as an old movie then I will say that Vangelis' work on it was fucking incredible.

I still have this movie from when i was 19. Classic manga, with shocking violence - mad max style.

"Death shouldn't be rushed, one should savour it like fine wine
and enjoy its aroma. But if, in consideration of your impatience, I must kill you now - so be it."

The track you mentioned in this movie totally sucked.
