OMFG STAR WARS

Spoiler alert:

It will be crap.

Why :( Abrams' Trek movies are pretty good but too action-y. His style seems perfect for Star Wars, and he's said several times that he never grew up on Trek but adored Star Wars as a kid, so I think he has a sense for what will work and what won't. The writers and actors are also generally regarded as very good at what they do. My only fear is that it will be too chaotic (like ST Into Darkness) and/or have too many characters- the cast is huge.

Don't be sad. It's just a hunch. I'm not expecting anything to be honest, I lost interest first time I saw Jar Jar. I can't see how this could repair the damages that has been done by the prequel trilogy. It was awful on every levels and ruined everything for me.

I feel ya. I know it's just a movie and everything, but these were my absolute favorite movies ever as a kid, and it felt like the veil had been lifted when the prequels came out that there were real people behind them, and they had the capacity to utterly fuck up my dreams of what Star Wars was. It's way too early to tell, but I have a substantial amount of faith that everybody associated with this one has the ability to bring that magic back to it that makes it so awesome.

It could still be shit, but that's what I think for now

It looked pretty good. It reminded me a lot of the early 2000's Star Wars games, which were incredible. I'm definitely interested in more.

The whole idea of expanding on light sabers has always been kinda shite from the start. I mean, you are already pushing reality by focusing the energy of a crystal into a badass powerful beam of light; but it looks cool and ends up suspending disbelief quite well in the films. Then you have light saber blades popping up everywhere and your just like 'come on whatever'. It drains the light saber of its uniqueness and dampens the impact it had in the original films.

Remember this is also a Disney film now...

I hope this shit doesn't suck, but my expectations are low.

I also thought that the lightsaber was kinda meh, but the visuals are really cool and I'm a huge Star Wars(original trilogy) fan. I'm really looking forward to this even if I know that failure is quite likely.

I have undertaken the biggest challenge of my life so far : going to the cinema watch star wars without spoiling myself a single second of it.

I WILL NOT WATCH A VIDEO OR READ YOUR POSTS GUYS ! I'm OUT !
