One of the true greats fell today.

Dude, you know you would love to spank Sue with the bible while she told you the identity of her father.

this kid is all of 12... maybe 13... and you're talking about his spanking a grown woman??

PUH-LEASE.

in all seriousness, Jost might one day grow into a fine young man, but at the moment, he's still wearing Spiderman Underoos and he still gets excited over pizza day in the school cafeteria.

And he's never seen a real boob in person but from behind his computer screen he can talk about how unattractive you are. My point was that given the chance he would throw one in you.

I met Sue in person last year, she is very attractive and a really nice person. Plus, that kid wouldn't know what to do with a real woman anyways.

Actually I was writing star wars fan fiction in my Mom's basement.

Seriously though, if Sue wants to put her opinions out there then they become up for discussion. I don't agree that Jesse Helms is a great man in anyway but I've elcted not to mail her a pipe bomb. No sleep lost on either end I'm sure.

Oh I know poor Sue! How can anyone disagree???!!!! Or that dude who just strings together words without knowing what he's talking about it. The liberals just won't leave them alone!

Did you just reference robocop? Dear lord it must be rough being on summenr break with nothing but TBS to keep you busy.

Interesting. I thought my intellect had dropped to the levels that people like SueNC have displayed here when I didn't recognize the word "summenr" in your post. Could my vernacular prowess possibly be eclipsed by the likes of regulars on the billy milano board?

I looked and looked and couldn't find it listed in any dictionary thesaurus. Is it a new word just created for the purpose of using it here?

What is a "summener break"?

Yeah smart ass I'm pretty sure you know it was spelling error. I'm also pretty sure you feel nice and smug pointing it out, and I'm totally sure that at the end of the day you are still a douche bag.

Who are you going to believe, your lying eyes and mass media or nutcase Carole Moseley Braun about Helms singing "Dixie" to her. Got credible witnesses, like Susan Lindauer, maybe?

Hey, if this were Canada, she could haul him before the Human Rights Commission with its near 100% conviction rate for thought--er, "hate"--crimes

Helms challenged the groupthink leftists--admittedly very easy to do, with choice quotes like these--who think Castro's got something to offer us, that Ortega was kewl. That he was correct on certain things, like working with Bono for African AIDS funding, was either ignored or spun negatively. Recall when some people put a condom over Helms' house? What did he do about it? Probably nothing, taking it all in stride while the leftists foamed at the mouth.

He wasn't right on everything, but nobody is. He was right on Communism when many weren't.

He's probably still chuckling about how, even after his death, the lefties are still wound up about him. After all nothing lasts like the hate of a tolerant "liberal" progressive. Helms just kept yanking their chains, rattling their well-defined tiny mental cages, and I'm glad he did. It made for entertainment, if nothing else.

And, yes, he spoke his mind with probably a greater degree of honesty than most elected politicians. That's something to be thankful for.

welcome to the board, but dont expect the foaming-at-the-mouth liberal riff raff to understand logic when they hear it.

Wait a minute how were his anti-communist positions a challenge? To who? some hippies in Berkeley? No, they were perfectly mainstream. Kennedy was a liberal and he attempted a botched overthrow of Castro. The idea, which you imply, that he was holding off liberals from embracing Castro is beyond absurd. Anti-communist/ anti-castro positions were taken by virtually every major politician. Perhaps you should, you know, study the Cuban Missile Crises or some actual history before throwing around meaningless terms.

Of course he was correct on a lot of things. so what? That's pretty bare bones praise for a senator.

I fail to see anything positive about this man...

"Helms was an advocate of the tobacco industry

Helms opposed the Martin Luther King Day

Helms had close ties with and was considered a main sponsor of the right-wing Salvadoran Nationalist Republican Alliance and its leader and death squad founder Roberto D'Aubuisson. When confronted with evidence that D'Aubuisson ran death squads that systematically murdered civilians, he replied that "[a]ll I know, is that D'Aubuisson is a free enterprise man and deeply religious."

Helms was "bitterly opposed to federal financing of AIDS research and treatment". Opposing the Kennedy-Hatch AIDS bill in 1988, Helms stated, "There is not one single case of AIDS in this country that cannot be traced in origin to sodomy."

In 1994, Helms created a sensation when, on the anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination, he told broadcasters Rowland Evans, Jr., and Robert Novak that Clinton was "not up" to the tasks of being commander-in-chief and suggested Clinton, "better not show up around here [Fort Bragg] without a bodyguard." Helms said Clinton was so unpopular and said he hadn't meant it as a threat.

Having attempted, and failed, to block passage of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Care (CARE) Act passed in 1990, Helms tried to block its refunding in 1995, saying that those with AIDS were responsible for the disease, because they had contracted it because of their "deliberate, disgusting, revolting conduct", and falsely claiming that more federal dollars were spent on AIDS than heart disease or cancer. His opposition to the spending was consonant with his long term anti-gay rhetoric and opposition to civil rights for gay men and women generally. Helms had declared homosexuality "degenerate," and homosexuals "weak, morally sick wretches."

Helms opposed many progressive policies regarding race such as school integration, the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

Helms opposed "every piece of civil rights and affirmative action legislation" and blocked "Black judges from being considered for the federal bench." In 1982, he voted against the extension of the Voting Rights Act. Helms opposed busing, supported the "racist apartheid regime of South Africa", and "for years blocked attempts by President Bill Clinton to appoint a Black judge to the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals". Only when Helms' own judicial choices were threatened with blocking did attorney Roger Gregory of Richmond, Virginia get confirmed. Helms tried to block the nomination of Carol Moseley Braun, the first Black female senator, as ambassador to New Zealand."

Upon seeing all of this, I'm glad he's dead. People like this make me disgusted to live in the south.

Heey T-Man, where have you been?

*and sorry I don't have any intelectual response to this thread. I'm an European fellow and don't have a clue who you're actually talking about :)

Johnnie!!! What's going on bro??
Don't sweat the "intellectual" thing.. You're one of the smartest dudes on this board!:)

I basically stopped posting here because of the group of losers who need to start shit on the regular now.. Back when it was you, Steve, Fred, Fah-Q, Jurch, etc.. it was cool. But now it seems like SueNC (who I think is great!!) is one of the only old regulars who still continues to post here.

Plus Billy hasn't posted here in a while now and besides seeing what's up with the cool people I always enjoyed Billy's posts..

I still check in from time to time though...

Stay cool.. And keep beating the skins!!
