I hear there's a solid underground metal community in Pakistan. They have their own little concerts and what not. Metal is still a growing genre, but unfortunately, I think there's more bad then good. The sub genres are just getting out of hand. The most recent one that came up is "New Metal". Bands like Linkin Park...and As I Lay Dying fall under that, but what pisses me off the most is that I hate it when people associate stuff like that to other deeper genres. Metal, Death Metal, and Progressive metal are separate worlds. You just can't compare stuff like Dark Tranquility to Linkin Park because there are a slew of differences. Dark Tranquility should be considered real metal. My point is it; I'm fed up with the misunderstood universe. The world of good shit is so miss communicated and misinterpreted because of all these lame sub genres.
All these metal core bands, emo bands, new metal bands sometimes get in the way and mess up opinions of how people think of folks who like metal. Something like Dream Theater can change your perspective if you think all metal has to do with is screaming like a little bitch, and playing the guitar. Folks just don't get it.
Anyways, I was wondering if there are Opeth fans in countries that you don't hear about usually. This would be the ideal thread to talk about what folks in other countries think of bands like Opeth, and how the metal community is in the various, different countries.
