the beatles were my favorite band when you were still in diapers...so thank you for that. ANYWAY....aside from the slight eastern influence in atonement, i dont see a direct connection either. this is just what lindgren said in an interview not too long ago, so take it up with him.

you can find many similar sounding riffs on the cd "altars of madness." give it a listen. I think you will recognize the riff about 10 seconds in on track 1 (immortal rites). ;)

So roughly when you were 4 or something?
You were one smart toddler to have a favourite band at that age!
 
I always found the Nectar opening riff and the part at 2:05 in Advent pretty similar too. A good bit of the notes are exactly the same.
