metal is dead if you want metal to be greater and better than it was in the 80s. But if you just want some decent bands carrying the flag and rocking out then surely, it isn't dead. There have been some cool records to come out in the past 6 years. But I think many, and I mean MANY bands need to stop being so purist and safe and just write some decent songs, not giving a damn about what others think, and execute it with their own trademark sound. I'm getting kinda sick of new death metal, black metal, doom and thrash bands just coming out with stuff I've heard on other records. I guess it's cool because they're doing it for themselves...but bands in the 70s, 80s and early 90s were more fresh.
