Opinions on Meshuggah's "Nothing"

I don't like any band's that try and sound like Meshuggah too much.

Though the first Textures is awesome: like a mix of Cynic, Meshuggah and The Haunted. The second one I couldn't get into.

There's a band called Dog Faced Gods that copies Meshuggah too much. Also the first Theory in Practice was pertty Meshuggah inspired. Mnemic also try hard to sound like them.

IMO Meshuggah is the most significant metal band in the last 20 years. They don't sound like anything heard before and any points of reference to their music that can be drawn are usually outside of metal.

A Life Once Lost sounds like Meshuggah but they suck, especially the vocals. Also they have a southern sound to them which I'm not a fan of.

fuck all bands that don't write songs and do math instead. It's like I get it you're smart, wanna cookie?

ok dude, skip the topic.

what makes Meshuggah cooler than all technical bandsis that they are very complex but always have that general 4/4 groove happening with the snare and cymbal that alows who to headbang despite the fact the guitars and bass drum are playing a fucked up odd-time pattern.

Math? Hardly. It sounds like machines going in an apocalyptic factory, not math riffs.
call it what you will but if you want mechanical then just listen to a program.

They don't always have 4/4 drum grooves but they do in-fact have a large majority of 4/4 grooves especially on the cymbals. I saw em' back in the day and the drummer immediately caught my attention. He's way good, also I usually like other guitar that is doing the dark atmospheric stuff and not the start stop riffs, and their tone is always top notch. From what I remember hearing of catch 33 the drum work was much more intricate and less 4/4 patterns. It's actually a drum machine(drum kit from hell) on the new cd modeled after the drummer and holy crap am I astonished at how realistic it sounds for a drum machine. Also I kinda like their new cd the best. I just wished they chilled out on the math stop start riffs and concentrated fully on making a extremely dark and atmospheric song that doesn't revolve around riffs. To say they are the most significant metal act is crossing the line.

See I can find good things about most talented bands. Now as for gojira..nothing nice to say about them.

Catch 33 may be a drum machine but the drummer can pull off anything on that CD live. There is an awesome video on youtube of In Death-Is Life leading into In Death-Is Death.

You have a Bloodbath icon. And Satyricon in your signature. Your opinion is invalid.

are you kidding

Nothing by crappy bands like Meshuggah even begins to compare to Satyricon- Nemesis Divina, The Shadowthrone, Dark Medieval Times so get some taste.

You can play meshuggah riffs on one string their riffs are so amateur and stupid. Why does the band need 7 and 8 string guitars. Even bands that are not hard to play are harder to play than meshuggah, meshuggah is laughable.

I'm smart enough to play their riffs on one string so I can't be too dumb!

I'm guessing you started playing an instrument 1 month ago and have 5 cds in your collection!
