Opinions on Meshuggah's "Nothing"

hey little fuck, meshughah does a lot of tempo changes, and plays in odd time, they change time signature quite a few times, and their rhytms are not easy to get down with a metronome, especially at that tempo, and moreover they are very original. PLus thordendal does some inventive guitar solos at time.
And also what is so technical about black metal since you seem to like BM? tremolo picked riffs of moving powerchords in 4/4?will see who played guitar for less time. In the case that you are a shredder person that thinks that shred is superior to anything else, i will piss on your shredder guitar.
I like guitar solos btw. meshugah is awesome. the end!

Are you kidding.

Look at the end of 'New Millennium Cyanide Christ' for example. On say a Six string(I don't play 7) the last 1,2 minutes of the song is one note on the low E on the 3rd fret with palm mutes inbetween the one note(which sadly is how majority of their pathetic riffs are). Bands like Korn write riffs like that. This is suppose to be considered technical, off tempo, innventive, complex, unique . sometimes I wonder if people like you actually know what you are talking about or just let people give you misinformation and assume they know what they are talking about. Meshuggah is mallcore music for kids into nu-metal. Meshuggah does not use any unique chords, positions, scale patterns and has no sense of techniques or anything. they suck. It's really hard for me to think of more unimaginative bands than them.

people like you deserve to suck kerry king's AIDS infected cock. Why don't you post a video of you playing new milennium cyanide christ for example including the solo and the riffs along the CD then? you suck cock and have no idea about music!

And Will said he likes this guy?

I'm going to fly to Germany and drink beer on the plane right now. And I'm going to listen to Meshuggah the entire time just out of spite. And because it's the most kickass music ever.

Well they definitely aren't an untechnical band mainly due to insanely good timing. They lock the timing down to a science live which most bands can't even do on a simple timed song. Thats a huge thing and if you don't understand how huge that is then you have no room to speak. Timing is the foundation of music so I don't care how shredtastic you think you are, if don't have good timing your shit is weak. Do you not know what a poly rhythm is or how insanely hard those are? If you don't think they have crazy chords or scales you obviously can't hear the second guitarist who is doing the jazz chords and scales behind the chug riffs. My main problem with mashuggah is almost all their songs sound the same/also no change in vox which are based of the repetition of a riff which does indeed get boring. Also like someone said before laying down drum grooves which most people can rock their heads to over that timing is incredibly creative. You trying to match that timing and tempo with those odd timed riffs, good luck. You obviously don't know too much about music if you are impressed by shred because coming up with shred riffs is simple as hell once you got the technique down which isn't a hard thing to do. I will agree they aren't the most creative band when it comes to breaking their own formula, that's a huge downfall because variety is key. I don't even really like this band but i'm not gonna speak out of my ass about them. I admire meshuggahs mechanical proficiency but if they want to maintain my attention they need to learn to give into the soul sometimes.

I dont care if someone doesnt like Meshuggah, you can find them boring, uninteresting, whatever. But to call them mallcore/nu-metal/etc. shows one or more of the following:
a) You have zero to little knowledge of music
b) You have never heard them
c) your an elitist idiot trying to impress other elitist idiots (ohh wait, I forgot Im on the internet...)

And what the fuck is mallcore anyway? Please tell me where the universal list of genre definitions is and who is the overlord assigning them to bands.

Holy.fuck.hell.
What ever happened to being open minded?
(p.s.- dont bother pointing out any irony in this)
