First of all, this thread kicks ass. Proulxski, I love you for creating it.

With that being said, I've only had the chance to play VII, VIII, IX, X, and X-2, since I never had the correct system on which to play any of the others. So, out of the games that I've played, I have to go with the popular vote and say that VII is my favorite, followed closely by IX. VII has some really cool characters, and for some reason, I love walking through the slums and all of those other shitty, modern fantasy places. As already stated, Vincent and Sephiroth are both great characters. I love Vincent because he reminds me of myself (although I'm not badass like he is), since he's quiet and he seems to like being by himself. The only thing that could have made this game better is the card game.

IX is also a great game, mainly because of the story and the gorgeous cutscenes. I also like the characters in that one, mainly Zidane, Dagger, and Amarant. Amarant reminds me a lot of Vincent, which is probably why I like him so much.

Although I don't dislike VIII, there aren't many memorable moments in that one. Fortunately it's growing on me...very slowly.

X was amazing, but it was much too short. I beat the game, filled in everyone's sphere grid, obtained the ultimate weapons, completed the enemy capturing quest in the Calm Lands (I don't remember what it's actually called), and then I didn't really know what else I could do.

X-2 had the same problem as X (lack of replay value). Plus, there was a bit too much "girl power" feelings throughout that game. I do like Paine a lot though.

4 and 6 were great. 7 was great. 8 was boring and crappy, and at that point I lost my interest in the FF franchise. I kinda got tired of the whole FF style... wooden characters, dull battles and ridiculous levelling, boring linear gameplay.

Nubuo did some great soundtracks back in the day, but from what I've heard about his recent material, he's gotten kinda crappy.

I think 8 is a great game with a great storyline (sure it gets weird at the end but whatever I liked it) and a cool game system. Of course it's not as good as 7 but I would never say anything bad about 8.

IX was a cool game for those of us that grew up on the NES and SNES Final Fantasys. It was very oldschool, and Vivi was AWSOME. He's still one of my favorite FF characters ever. I saw him and was like "holy shit, its a black mage like FF's 1-5!!" Its story was decent for a FF...along the lines of the SNES games, although its villain (Kuja) was kinda...not villanous...at least kefka was flamboyant and psychopathic, that works...Kuja was just flamboyant.

FF4 just seems to personify the series for me, or at least the classic series...medieval style with some technology, job classes, crystals, elementals, just....awesome :D...and of course the amazing, majestic music (please do yourself a favor if you like FF music and pick up FF4 - Celtic Moon, best rendition of the crystal theme on it ever, played by a Celtic folk band).

Kuja's laugh made me laugh every time, but Kefka's thong just plain disturbed me :S

Game systems, clearly 7 is better than 8, but dwarfed by their improvements in 10. Storyline however, I felt 8 was much, much stronger than 7. And I KNOW I am in the minority on this, considering 7 is the one people are 'supposed' to like, and also it's likely the introduction to the series for many fans, making it a sentimental classic. Nothing against 7, but compare the final FMV's of the two games and you'll see what I mean about storyline. While 7 made me think "wow deus ex machina lol where's the rest?" which is the whole purpose of creating AC and whatnot, 8 was just touching and perfectly executed closure.

I thought Kuja was a female for nearly half of the game... :erk:
 I thought he was male, but then I had second thoughts when I saw that he was wearing a belly shirt. As feminine as he was, I kind of liked him.

The best part in 10 is Blitzball, and laughing at Nobuo for putting Rammstein in the starting cutscene
Really?! I never knew that. Are you sure that it's them?

yeh Freya is her name! (for some reason I was thinking of the PoP chick!)

The final Cutscene for FFVIII might top that of FF7...but I find the characters back stories/emotions/feelings more clear! In the sense you get this Vibe from VII that you don't in VIII!

I am new to FFIX... But I must agree with you Vivi is a sick ass character...and right from the start of the game you get this feeling he is going to play a big roll in the game! I'm only on the first disc and its my first time playing the game and I feel this...I'm sure others can justify whether or not my premenitions are true!

FFX was alright, Blitzball kicked royal anus!

I think one of my most JOYOUS moments in a Final Fantasy game yet would have to be FFVII @ the Golden Saucer...that place pwned, with all the mini-games and the battle sqaure! Oh don't forget chocobo racing.

Positive.
Nope...it's not...not sure if you were trying to trick him for some reason or not, but that is NOT Rammstein in the beginning of FFX...the song is called Otherworld, and is by Bill "xtillidiex" Muir, but is composed and arranged by
Nobuo Uematsu.
And Lyrics are written by Alexander O. Smith.

Found that on GameFAQs.com....

ahh good old trusty gamefaqs...never lets a fellow gamer down :D

I found this pretty cool, so decided to show it off a little!

Hell yeah!! I still have the ill Blitzball team saved on my memory card. I would list it, but I'm too lazy, but I can remember that my team is so good that you'd probably crap yourself if you were that much of a die-hard Final Fantasy fan.
