OT: The Official Final Fantasy Thread

I can't take Kingdom Hearts seriously. It's probably a great game, but the fact that it has so many freaking Disney characters is just.... wacky.

That's exactly why I still don't own it! Disney characters are bad enough, but the fact that both Donald Duck and Goofy are involved is just too much to take in one game. However, I keep hearing good things about this game, so I'll buy the first one if I can find it cheap enough.

Just completed the 1st cd in FFIX... and yeh I I wouldn't know Kuja was a guy if somone hadn't mentioned the fact he is a guy earlier on in this tread! What the hell is up with beatrix? you do not find she seems a little 'over done' Like they try to OVEREXAGERATE her character... Saying how she once took down a whole army of men on her own... Mean while I'm fighting her and my attacks do twice the amount of damage than hers... But you know how SqaureEnix RPG's go...That battle is rigged so even if you where powerful enough to win, you cannot lol!

When I first started playing IX I found the battle music a little weird compared to liek FFVII... But its growing on me and I actualy do a little headbanging to it lol!

Beatrix is awesome... you can use her as a character temporarily about halfway through the game, but I won't spoil the story for you!

I said it on the kamforum and I will say it here I am one of the biggest final fantasy fans you will every see, I have almost EVERY FF release ever (that includes famicom games and japanese releases) personally when it comes down to it I love every single one of them, however for an all-time favorite I have it tied between IV and VI, they were both so amazing, dont get me wrong VII is by far one of the best of the series, I just have more of a connection with VI then it, they materia system was awesome, I actually wish they would bring it back in XIII or at least something very similar, the sphere grid from X was impressive as well, but I thought it could have been executed better

agreed! I think one of the reasons alot of people enjoyed VII the most was because it was the first one they got introduced to...also the materia system was VERY awsome... Basically the matches/combos where limitless, it gave more of a choice to the gamer, which was differ and cool!

I read somewhere that FF XII will be coming out in October of this year...anybody know if this is true or if SquareEnix will own our souls and push it back again?

doubt it: and here's why- it's for PS2. PS3 comes out supposedly winter this year. a brilliant marketing strategy would be to release it on PS2 before PS3 comes out, thus pushing sales up one last time during a period when people would normally stop buying games in anticipation for a next gen console. They buy FF12, they might also buy a few other games. Then, when PS3 comes out, they can announce that FF12 would run smoother and look nicer on a PS3, and people will jump to buy it. Hell, Sony might even try to package-deal them to sell em faster. So I doubt S.E. would postpone this one, it's not in their best interest to get swamped by a wave of PS3 titles to compete with.

FFIX was released right while the PS2 came out, and that is one of the lowest selling games in the series.

Anyway, Kenneth is correct, it would be better to release it before PS3 comes out.

It wouldn't make a huge differince however! Since I'm sure it will have play-back compatability! BTW has anyone ever seen the 'Declining of Video Gamming' on newgrounds? Fucking hilarious movies lol! I love how they make fun of Square Enix and its games... and you know when they make fun of them they Play them way to much lol!

Yeah, it got crazy pushed back a while ago because the heads of the project didn't like the direction it was taking so scrapped it all and began again. It's already out in Japan apparently, and sales are down bigtime unfortunately. Seems like the FF series is beginning to lack in the awesome sales department. Guess every game can't be as popular as VII

X was extremely popular. VII is just a cult favorite much like Number of the Beast is a default metal album, people just get it no matter what. Its as much popular by association as popular by reputation.

I heard the gameplay sucks multiple times from different sources. Who wants to play a TPS FF7? Not me damn it. It sounds like a squareenix plan to milk FF7 like the Madden series.

haha owndage...Don't I feel stupid lol! Does anyone find it wierd how Yuffie fomr FFVII gets on your team? She doesn't have much of a back story in the game...just that she is a theiving, keniving biatch! its weird how she joins your team, sorta pointless you know! "Oh you guys look cool...I'll be in your party!" lol that how it came across for me anyway, how 'bout the rest of you'ze?

Yuffie is just weird. So is her whole side quest at Wodai or something like that, the Pagoda deal. She's good at stealing items though Vincent > Yuffie though
