Ugh. Final Fantasy games. Why don't they make the gameplay in RPGs different? It got old fast.

If you want good RPGs, play Fallout, or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. If you play it and think, "this doesn't seem like an RPG..." it means you're playing the right game.

I've loved RPGs ever since I was little, but for some reason I didn't get into Final Fantasy until last year. I had played through the original FF for NES back in the day, but wasn't all that interested. Last year though, my boyfriend had me play through Final Fantasy 7 & 8 and I loved 'em. I also got through 6 recently. As much as I enjoyed all three of them, I think 7 is my favorite. I loved the materia system, the storyline, the character development, and Sephiroth--what an awesome villian.

KotOR is one of my favorite games, I think its great! But this is the official FF thread, therefore people will tend to talk about FF instead of Star Wars.

I'm a huge Star Wars fanboi by the way :D

SO much must be going on in the story that I figured I might as well never get involved.
I'm surprised that no one else has pointed this out yet, but there's not just one story. In fact, the only time when one of the stories continues is FFX-2 from FFX.

I don't know what to make of X-2. I liked it, but it was such a wierd game compared to other Final Fantasies. It didn't have that same epic journey feel that literally every single other FF had. There was always too much of that still getting back to normal from FF10 feeling.

i've actually never heard of it lol! But I trust your opinion since you're a Final Fantasy Fan...oh and Canadian Eh!

Progmaiden... Sephiroth was I believe the greatist villian in video-game history! No other villain is even comparable...

The problem I had with Kotor was its a great story...but along one! And instead of feeling like you're part of the story and having it unravel...I felt as though I was reading a book, a LOOONG Novel... Where as Most final fantasy games put me more in the shoes of the Hero...and I felt more like I was part of it than being forced to read it...you know?

BTW... has anyone ever noticed Sqaures fixation with making their main character/hero have blonde hair lol?

Hey guys,

i'm another Final Fantasy NUT, FULL ON NUT, i've played through and finshed EVERY game the ones i can't buy/find i downloaded amd emulated and finished..

The most Evil NPC/Character is Kefkah with Sephiroth as a close second.

My Favourite is Final Fantasy 8, I find it to be the best as its got more realism, i love the plot, game play, gfx, sound track everything about it.

FF7 is a VERY close second however, i've played through and beaten every boss/enemy known, i also know many tricks to beating alot of the weapons

The best way to beat Emerald Weapon (Undersea) is as follows
My Party was set out like this
Cid (Materia: Underwater, Cure(fully leveled, HP+(fully Leveled)
Cloud (Materia: HP+ Fully Leveled X2(GIves 9999 Health)
Barret (Materia: Bahumut, Neo Bahumut, MasterMagic(i think?))

Emerald Weapon has an attack where the top half comes off and attacks the players party with wat looks like a lazer, when it does this it takes off damage according to the players Materia equipped so attacking it with 2 Materia Equipped(and having 9999 health on one character) takes the players health to 7777, This gives wats called Lucky 7's meaning the character attacks 64 times dealing 7777 damage per hit, NOTHING survives not even a weapon ;)

Ruby Weapon: The best way to beat this sucker is to have MasterSummon, MasterMagic and MasterCommand Equipped on the one character i used Cloud for this and continuously summon both "Hades" and "Knights Of The Round" also having the materia which allows you to have 2 attacks at once, Hades does change status, such as Blind, Poison ect, and KoTR does MASSIVE damage as you know, That little Paragraph is the best way IMO to beat both weapons it worked for me numerous times =D

Thanks Guys

Sephiroth (and the other characters in FF7) were some of the most one-dimensional characters ever created.

as much fan-attention as he gets, his character works because his 'evil' is a blind, reckless one. he's the embodiment of anarchy. Some of the FF bosses I agree are somewhat stupidly 'bad' without purpose, direction, or cause...

So a whiny superhuman throws a temper tantrum and tries to destroy the world. What's so groundbreaking about that?
