I wasn't until you said that. Didn't even know it was close to release. I don't have a PS2 anymore so I don't follow games. I just went and watched a trailer. Now I want to play it. Blast!

Oh man. A Final Fantasy thread...you have just made my life proulxski. :worship:

I voted for FF IX as my favorite only because it was a huge throwback to the original FF's that I played, I and III/VI. I'd have to say that VII is probably right up there as well...that game is quite possibly the greatest game ever created in my eyes. The plot of that game is absolutely mind-numbing. And Advent Children kicks all sorts of ass.

I agree Nobuo is a genius...I just got the OST to Advent Children, and it's amazing. It's all the VII songs but reworked for REAL instruments, not MIDI. And also the concert that Nobuo had on 02/20/2002 with an orchestra for all his FF songs is WILD. My friend has it, not sure where he got it from, but it's awesome.

VIII kicks ass too, effe what the reviews said. :headbang:

I can't wait for XII to come out...the screenshots and things I've seen for it seem astounding. The scenery and colors and stuff is so vibrant, so animated. The FF series is so good at creating a perfect atmosphere for their games (VI particularly, after you kill Atma Weapon and the world "ends," I've never felt so dismal from a video game ever).

I can't take Kingdom Hearts seriously. It's probably a great game, but the fact that it has so many freaking Disney characters is just.... wacky. I wanna play a game with swords and dragons and fire and magic and war and a game that looks like something out of a Wizards of the Coast game. Disney characters are way too hard to take seriously for me.

IMO the issue with it isn't the Disney themes. It's the terribly coded gameplay system (nothing against action, but poorly done action...) and the whole gummi thing can just suck a rock, seriously.

The problem I think is that I just take the games themselves too seriously. Thats why I don't like seeing cartoons in a Power Metal kinda world.

dude Aladdin is way metal.

seriously, my issue with KH is everyone hyped it up sooo much, and as an RPG it paled in comparison to other mammoth games, and as an action adventure game it lacked a lot of depth.

and the gummi thing again is ridiculous. it required an entire tutorial, its own menus and extensive dedicated FAQ's on gamefaqs. it's like they ran out of things to add, so they spliced in a partially completed flying game reminiscent of old-skool Star Fox. unlike Star Fox, the gummi thing made you spend ages trying to improve/build a ship with tools that could have been used in AutoCAD. in short, it was a poorly integrated mini game imo, compared with a similar but much more stylish attempt of the 'flying game transportation' of Jade Empire.
