I don't know if that is something to be happy about. My dad has had 7 operations in the last 15 years. He doesn't look like a happy camper after getting them.

To quote him "It feels like I got in a knife fight and lost."

Good luck man and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Hernias are rampant in my family, so it is only a matter of time before I will be getting the operation(s):erk: :ill:

Tad's had this operation before. He recovers fast and well (unless he's lying about that) and usually spends his time off working reading and screwing around on the computer and playing video games.

My husband, however, sounds an awful lot like your dad.

Hope you have a speedy recovery Tad!

As for me, I'm going to see Clapton tonight. We have shitty seats, but they were cheap and as long as I can hear the music, I'm cool.

My husband wanted to see Clutch, but they're playing waaaay down in the South Suburbs, and on a school night. Bummer. Same thing happened when 'Thrax played there in July. I sometimes hate where I live now. All of my friends still live in the South 'burbs, so we don't get to hang out as much.

Man, I am exhausted. I have not even slept yet:erk:

Clutch ruled as always. I hung out with Neil and company for a bit after the show. I got the set list, my poster signed and pics with them. Great night. I will post pics when I get them. It's funny, this show was closer than any other time I have seen them and I got home at 3 in the morning:confused: and to top it off I couldn't fall asleep when I tried to go to bed.....It's going to be a long day:zombie: .

Thanks everyone. It's all good. I did have a right inguinal hernia repaired a couple years ago. That was on the job, and they did laproscopic surgery. I was only off work for 6 days.
This time it wasn't an on-the-job injury, and it's a different Dr. He's doing tension free mesh surgery, so I'll be out for 2-3 weeks.

I think back to my medical school days doing my surgical rotation and shudder. I didn't mind the surgery itself, that part was cool to watch and assist in, but it was the 36-hour shifts and cowboy mentality of the surgeons that didn't want to change that system "I did it, so can you".

Hopefully your surgeon isn't at the end of a 36-hour shift, Tad.

That would SUCK. I hope he's comfortable and alert. Hehe.

36 hrs? wtf NFF?
Yeah, that sucked bigtime. At one point, I had to work a stretch of 3 36-hour shifts in 5 days, and I was as white as a ghost when I did it. Some of the residents, who had a lot more responsability than I had (including starting and finishing operations without the supervisor) sometimes would have stretches of up to 3 weeks where every second day was a 36-hour shift (ie. 36 hours on, 12 hours off, 36 hours on, 12 hours off for 3 weeks straight). That's was one of the main reasons I never chose to specialize in surgery...I wanted a life.

Hey, I have been up well over 24 hours right NOW. Doesn't that count for something:confused: ?

Here is a pic of some dude with Neil Fallon of Clutch:)
