Good luck man and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Hernias are rampant in my family, so it is only a matter of time before I will be getting the operation(s)![]()

How was Clapton?remington69 said:Hope you have a speedy recovery Tad!
As for me, I'm going to see Clapton tonight. We have shitty seats, but they were cheap and as long as I can hear the music, I'm cool.
My husband wanted to see Clutch, but they're playing waaaay down in the South Suburbs, and on a school night. Bummer. Same thing happened when 'Thrax played there in July. I sometimes hate where I live now. All of my friends still live in the South 'burbs, so we don't get to hang out as much.
I think back to my medical school days doing my surgical rotation and shudder. I didn't mind the surgery itself, that part was cool to watch and assist in, but it was the 36-hour shifts and cowboy mentality of the surgeons that didn't want to change that system "I did it, so can you".ThraxDude said:Thanks everyone. It's all good. I did have a right inguinal hernia repaired a couple years ago. That was on the job, and they did laproscopic surgery. I was only off work for 6 days.
This time it wasn't an on-the-job injury, and it's a different Dr. He's doing tension free mesh surgery, so I'll be out for 2-3 weeks.
That would SUCK. I hope he's comfortable and alert. Hehe.nafnikufesin said:I think back to my medical school days doing my surgical rotation and shudder. Hopefully your surgeon isn't at the end of a 36-hour shift, Tad.
Yeah, that sucked bigtime. At one point, I had to work a stretch of 3 36-hour shifts in 5 days, and I was as white as a ghost when I did it. Some of the residents, who had a lot more responsability than I had (including starting and finishing operations without the supervisor) sometimes would have stretches of up to 3 weeks where every second day was a 36-hour shift (ie. 36 hours on, 12 hours off, 36 hours on, 12 hours off for 3 weeks straight). That's was one of the main reasons I never chose to specialize in surgery...I wanted a life.DarbysDad said:36 hrs? wtf NFF?
