OT: Who gets the last word?

I finally got through to my friend who lives in Hawaii. I've been trying to call her since yesterday afternoon. She's on Oahu, just outside of Honolulu. They just got power back on. There's not any damage by her, although she said that some stuff fell off her bookshelf. I told her to be glad that she doesn't live on the big island. That must suck for those who are on vacation there. I heard that there are no outgoing flights currently.

Some lady I work with has a nephew who just came back from his honeymoon in Hawaii on Thursday. He got lucky--in more ways than one

The Eskimos loss combined with the Roughriders win this week means the Eskimos will miss the playoffs for the first time since 1971. Yet they have given the coach a vote of confidence...meaning that not only does the coach have to go, but all of upper management needs to go too.

It's really hard to do work when three-quarters of my department are in Atlanta for the Neuroscience Conference. It's really quiet here and creepy. And,f course, my boss didn't go, and therefore I can't cut out early.

Well, today just turned real shitty. I just found out that a co-worker passed away this weekend(43 with 2 kids ) and not even an hour later I found out that my boss has ovarian cancer. I didn't know the guy who passed away all that well(I work in a big office-still feel for his family though) but my boss is super cool and has always been good to me. Man, I really hope she beats this .

Best wishes to you and your co-workers. Ovarian cancer can be very treatable depending on when it's caught, so hopefully they've diagnosed it early enough.

What a crazy week last week. My Dad calls me last Thursday and tells me that my Step Bro died in a car accident. His wife and kids survived. I wasn't real close to him but he seemed to have his life in order and I feel real bad for my (Step) Mom because that was her only child.
