Which reminds me. This week I got in trouble from my boss at work for being insensitive, and "ghetto." I'll get to insensitive, but what the hell is "ghetto" have anything to do with getting in trouble? Grew up in a small city that is as far from anything resembling a ghetto. If you met me, you wouldn't think of me as ghetto after maybe 3 minutes. As for insensitive, what could I have possibly said? Was it one of my great off color jokes? What'd Hitler say to his troops before invading Poland? "Don't shit in the streets, we're trying to starve them." And shuttup, I am Polish too. No, I said "pssst, could I get a yard location please, thanx." "psssssst" is considered insensitive and ghetto. I always thought, "HEY!" was more impolite. My reply was, "what? you have got to be kidding me. how is that wrong? what is wrong with it?" "it's a derogitive way to get a girl's attention, like whistling." "WHAT???" "Don't say it anymore, seriously." What are people going to be offended by now? That offends me that we have come so far in this country in not offending people, that trying to politely get someone's attention is considered insensitive. More I thought about it, the more it pissed me off. I'm chubby, and I don't get all insensitive about it. I was going to go in there and never talk to that person that complained, and if they asked me, I would say, "sorry, I cannot talk to you because you may construe anything I say as being insensitive. So I am acting in your best interest to never speak to you again." and normally this person was cool. she gets away with far more things than saying, "pssst."
Sorry bout the rant. That pissed me off. Each person I talked to, and asked, none of them had ever, EVER heard of that being remotely insensitive.
