Personally I've never listened to that much Pantera. I've got CFH but wasn't too fussed with it. Should really check out some of their other albums I think. I can't deny that they've had a massive influence on metal and metal production though.
This I'll agree with, love that outro.
All that tells me is that you're some macho twat who thinks it's cool to kick the shit out of people who have a different taste in music than you. I would be disappointed to see that kind of behavior from a high school kid, but to hear about an adult acting like that is just sad.

anyway, since my prior comment wasn't really full of information:
I got into Pantera only shortly before Dime got shot, like 1 or 2 months. Was a real bummer, but made me dig into it even more then I allready had.
My fav album was and will alwas be VDOP. None of their other records come close for me. CFH is 2nd, followed by FBD. Not huge into the rest, but those 3 get a regulary spin.
I think "Mouth for War" is my fav Pantera song

hahahahaAnyway ... fan since CFH came out. Saw Pantera on CFH tour, opening for Exodus & Suicidal. Met and talked with Phil briefly before the show. Very nice dude, very short, and yes VERY talkative but the crown for onstage banter easily goes to Mike Muir ... hands down
only did one bad album and unfortunately it was their last but everything before that (Powermetal is the cutoff for me) was awesome and I have many great memories with that band as the soundtrack

Sorry, didn't read the whole thread (don't care), but it's not even close to being the best band in the world, of course. BUT, Dime was one of the best guitar players out there, not because of his shredding abilities, but because of his licks and compositions.

I don't understand the hating on Reinventing the Steel. I thought it was a good cd. Not their best, but still plenty good.

This video just depressed me. There is no band that can take control of a crowd like that anymore. I cant think of one??? im not even talking metal. in all of music, there is not a band that has literally every single person in the palm of their hand like that. that is truly something special.

I'd have to throw Amon Amarth in the running for this. I only saw them live once so don't know if its the same for every show they do but this one didn't even have the fucking viking ship onstage and the place was packed and just all levels of insane

They're the band that really got me into metal/aggressive shit, before that i was just into Nirvana/Pearl Jam.
If i had to keep one band in my life that would be them. I'll never get bored with their stuff.

On a side note, i love CFH/VDOP/FBD, but my favourite is TGST by far. RTS was great but had a few "just decent" songs on it, and the rest was killer. The Live 101 Proof live album + unreleased tracks is FACERIPPING.
They're the band i've listened to the most in my life, closely followed by Sepultura, Slipknot, Merauder, Down and Pearl Jam.
I was really bummed the day i heard about Dime's death (i was in class being bored and checking metal news and was shocked learning the bad news).
I missed one opportunity to see them live when i was like 15 and i'm gonna regret it all my life. I wish i had seen Sepultura during the Max Cavalera days also (but i was really young at that time anyway, would have been difficult to make it) ...

Damn straight ! This is one of those things i love about this band. And i love how they got more extreme throughout the years.
