Kalmah. Power Metal or Death Metal?
I always seem to classify them under the likes of Norther, Skifire, Immortal Souls, Dark Tranquillity, Imperanon and Eternal Tears of Sorrow... However, they do have elements of Power Metal... is it the harsh vocals that made some of us refer to them as Death Metal?
I'm confused!

Did you not understand my post? What is so wrong about MY opinion of genres? Name a band, and it fits into 1 of my 3 catagories... example...

wheter it's good or bad depends on the personal opinion. And so there would be like millions of different categorizations. ANd besides the subgenres sound very different so you have to be deaf to not notice the difference.

Kalmah actually started as a black metal project. The early vocals are kinda that style (ofc not as devilish as real bm bands). So we could actually call Kalmah Melodic Black-Death Metal

it's not stupid, if your mind just got used to genres and now you can't imagine or at least think that it should've been just metal then I can't help ya, it's not a fucking holy shit that you would follow blindly. black, death, power, speed, heavey ... etc the guy had a point to talk about and that's it no need to flame him or w/e if you disagree, be positive and say what you got with reasons!
Anyways, I don't give a fuck if kalmah's genre is rap id still listen to them hehe (if they still keep playing the way they do of course not the yo yo yo mo fo shit )
But, I heard that Kalmah might be melodeath.

According to metal-archives.com, Kalmah is Speed/Power Metal with Harsh Vocals. But I think it was labeled as melodic death metal earlier. I don't really care though, to me they are melodeath, they sure as hell do not sound like power metal.

Power Metal is like Iced Earth and Blind Guardian, you don't hear that kind of wankery in Kalmah's music. Their riffs, vox, and leads are totally different from anything used in power metal. Fucking power metal lmao

they just copied the genre classification from CoB and/or Norther because Kalmah is soooo "similar" to them. Seriously, at least after the black waltz it's clear that Kalmah are melodic Death metal
