This entire fucking cd sounds like a laptop running arpeggios and drum patterns at 100% accuracy. There's no fucking soul here, no dynamics, no charisma.

I've been ripping on this band lately because I believe it embodies everything that is wrong with metal recordings today.

I think the mixes suck compared the old ones, vocals just seem wayyyyyy too upfront and raspy compared to everything else. I presented 'What the fuck has happened to this band?' On their facebook page, in a response to their 50 million competitions/marketing gimmicks and got dogged for it naturally by all the kids who have been fans for a week.I think it's just a load of poop. Well said, whoever it was that made the ibanez endorsement statement. Vocalist has ruined this band, i'd probably like it more if it wasn't him. Okay so he can sing an unnaturally high range but now we're just going to get more bands springing up with vocalists that have no balls and can't even pull it off, since there are already an outburst of djent-core 2 note charlies that think it's cool to boost 1.3k by 10dB. I think that naturallly singing, Spencer sounds auto-tuned.. it's weird.

What's even worse is...his high range makes it more difficult to sing along

I also think sumerian offered them the signing on the condition that they got rid of Chris because i could SWEAR that the original letter experiment teaser that was up ages ago had Chris on it and not Spencer.

You wish you could achieve half of what they have achieved.
Their album was recorded with real drums.
Metal has moved on, sorry it isnt 1994 anymore.
If you want soul go to KFC. This isn't the Joss Stone forums it's the Sneap Forums.
Hell if I could record real drums and get them sounding as good as superior then I know I would, meanwhile...MIDI and VELOCITIES(You know those things that characterize dynamics?) will do me fine.

I don't get why you think I love this band so much. I fucking hate djent - I really just listen Periphery/TesseracT it for the layers, and the rest can suck a fatty dong. I get the sound Periphery is going for but fuck does it come off computerized and dead. There's industrial bands that don't come off as fucking sterile as these guys do so I know it can't be blamed on the specific genre.

I'm not getting sterile and computerized any more than the style of this music demands, I don't hear an abundance of hi-hat, or a ridiculously fat guitar tone (which the article does not at all mention, nor should it be a bad thing... have you heard the records Lewis works on? Pretty much fat as fuck on the gtr front), and it's as tight as the dudes have played it - you've never seen Periphery live, obviously, so who are you to criticize how tight they are? Would you shit on Decapitated for having an almost clinically tight album, despite the fact that it was EXACTLY how they played it?

I don't get what you're hearing with this. I really don't. Chaulk it up to that - stop spouting off like gods gift to recording.
