I have a lot of respect for this guy drum wise, but he turned into a fucking nut.

10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA:

1- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT IT IS RIGHT TO GO INTO A WOMAN'S WOMB AND KILL HER UNBORN BABY, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

2- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS RIGHT BEFORE GOD, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

3- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT ISRAEL SHOULD GO BACK TO THE 1967 BORDERS THEREBY MAKING THEM MORE VULNERABLE TO MUSLIM ATTACKS, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

4- IF YOU BELIEVE IN CLASS-WARFARE AS A POLITICAL STRATEGY, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

5- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT IT IS PERFECTLY RIGHT TO "BEAR FALSE WITNESS" AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

6- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT AMERICA IS NOT AN EXCEPTIONAL NATION, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

7- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT AMERICA'S MILITARY STRENGTH SHOULD BE DOWN-GRADED, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

8- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT IT IS ALRIGHT TO KEEP BORROWING MONEY THEREBY LEAVING A HUGE BURDEN FOR OUR CHILDREN AND AND CHILDREN'S CHILDREN, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

9- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT "GOD" SHOULD BE LEFT OUT OF OUR DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

10- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT IT IS ALRIGHT TO VIOLATE YOUR OWN CONSCIOUS AND THE CLEAR TEACHING OF SCRIPTURE, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

I had no idea this guy completely abandoned his past and went to (what I assume) Christianity, not to mention this crazy right wing shit.

I think he's agitating for him.

Yeah and in some interview I read, he was bragging about being unlike any drummer in the world and that no one can out do him in Death Metal. All I can say to him about his relationship is "Does fucking an ugly chick boost your ego, or does it just improve your karma?" (Laughed my ass off when I saw this) His head is bigger than David Vincent's although when I met him and Trey a month ago, he was pretty nice. Trey is a big kid. I asked him about Sailor Moon and he gave me a good 5 minute description on his favorite episode.

It flows because preeeetttty much his entire repertoire is really fast blasts and tom fills that just go down the line. It's fast, and I sure can't keep up with him, but any competent extreme drummer should have no issue covering his recordings.

I've been playing the drums for about 13 years, and I've playing Death Metal for about 6. Pete's stuff is generally easy to play (except for Covenant of Death and some of the fast double bass songs on Gateways...) but I have a hard time getting the same feel as Pete.

Lol What a clown.
Especially given his past history.

P.S. Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction is awesome
Epitaph... not so much

Necrophagist is overrated but still amazing at what they do, their first album is better than the second, but the solo in Epitaph is fucking genius.

I don't get Morbid Angel, not only are they complete fucking posers now, but now this shit? How could a band that wrote this

Write this?

Pretty much this. It's the character of his performance what makes him to stand out. The same goes with Grim (Borknagar, Gorgoroth), which drumming had nothing that an average extreme metal drummer couldn't play, but the intensity of his playing it's almost unrivaled.

Of course, the fact that Morbid Angel has been one of the most successful and influential death metal bands ever has a lot to do with his current status.

About the shift on the band's style, blame Trey who's the one who writes the stuff. I still like the death metal tracks; Existo, Nevermore, Blades, Beauty and 10 more dead sound like a continuation of the Domination era (with some Covenant stylistic touches here and there).

I think he has some good points in the,w hat I assume to be, critique of Obama. For me however that is not reason to vote for Romney either. Neither part corresponds to my views enough. But then again I am not American so it doesnt matter anyway.

I don't think Morbid Angel are posers for writing the industrial songs on Illud. They weren't going for commercial success...Trey anticipated the fan's negative reactions and still put out the album because that's what he wanted to do. Trey isn't the type of guy that wants just money. He isn't very materialistic and if you guys were to read his interviews, you would understand. He's all about spirit. Not to mention Death Metal isn't very mainstream so even if he wrote those songs for some money, he wouldn't be getting a lot of money compared to other artists. Illud is a kick ass album, actually. I didn't think much of it at first, but once I listened to it start to finish after a bong of some Colorado bud, it all clicked and I understood the appeal. It's the same thing with Nile. I didn't think much of them until I was stoned and listened to the Howling Of The Jinn. Blew my fucking mind.

By posers, I mean, like David is so self absorbed and goes on stage with a gay ass shirt with a pentagram on it and thinks hes some sort of "icon"

You guys know how at Metallica concerts James will yell "HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY" before a certain popular song/riff or after a song and make the ending ridiculously long for no reason?... Morbid Angel does this.

Those aren't good points any more than me saying "IF YOU THINK THE AMERICAN MILITARY SHOULD INVADE COUNTRIES FOR OIL AND EMPIRE BUILDING, VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY." It's slanted, skewed bullshit. Even if you're not an Obama supporter you gotta see that.

They obviously are extremes put up in a very simplistic way as to make Obamas politics sound stupid. I probably wouldn't ever express myself that way. However a few of the points I do think have a valid background.

1- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT IT IS RIGHT TO GO INTO A WOMAN'S WOMB AND KILL HER UNBORN BABY, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

4- IF YOU BELIEVE IN CLASS-WARFARE AS A POLITICAL STRATEGY, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

6- IF YOU BELIEVE THAT AMERICA IS NOT AN EXCEPTIONAL NATION, YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA.

And again I am very, very far from agreeing with the republican or the democrats. But I do not like abortion generally allthough I am for it in certain cases. And I think the importance should lie in encouraging people to take responsibility rather than banning.

I do not believe in class-warfare but rather class-collaboration. The class-warfare attitude is very common where I live and by most of the political worls here up north.

I do believe the ruling political party should have a healthy sense of nationalism/patriotism. Its important that it doest go to far but it is something I really miss. In Sweden its almost the opposite. Sweden and swedes are always downgraded by matter of some of our claimed traits. Politicians in power even deny our existence they claim there is no such thing as an ethnic Swede or an ethnic norther European and they continually downplay and downgrade our culture.

I believe that a country should have a strong military. Although I do not like the US as the world police of sorts. I think nations, in most cases, should stay out of other nations troubles. The so called Arab sring is a good example of that - or Afghanistan for that matter. And yes in this case your anti-Romney sentiments would fit perfectly ("IF YOU THINK THE AMERICAN MILITARY SHOULD INVADE COUNTRIES FOR OIL AND EMPIRE BUILDING, VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY.").

I am generally critical of the banks and how they deal with peoples money and create huge debts. I think we should probably look for a whole new system where banks and economics shouldnt be the focus as much as it is today. That being said I myself have a loan at the bank and it workd fine for me. I just dont like the structure of society and how its built around debts and interest rates.

I don't understand points 5, 9 and 10.

As far as his drumming...solid, but unremarkable. Having played on some of the finest and most influential death metal albums of all time definitely buys him some respect, but there's nothing really special about his drumming.

Yep. Vitek and George Kollias are better examples of some of the best DM drummers.
