Porcupine Tree at Nokia Theater, NYC

So I saw the concert mentioned above. Half the show was all new, unrecorded material that will be on the new album. It was pretty good stuff. The second half was all old favorites. They played very well and the sound at that place was sweet. Anyone else there???

I'd say that there is more heavy stuff, more of that kinda time-sig riffage. But there's a decent amount of mellow stuff, too. it's definitely an extension of the deadwing sound. One of the new songs is long as hell, as steven said "this would be side 1 of our opus" or something like that. I dont really like hearing new stuff live first, but it was pulled off well.

No release date yet, i wouldnt expect one until well after theyve recorded it. He said when they get back from the tour theyre going into the studio, so theres a timeline at least.

Mmm I wouldn't compare them... VAST is something completely different to everything I know. I only have their first album. It mixes samples of Benedictine Monks of the Abbey of Saint-Mauer and Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares, with an 18-piece orchestra, guitars and electronics which makes for a really interesting album. Their one of the bands that youlisten to and think "How the fuck did they think to write that??". I highly recommend them. HIGHLY!
