PP XII Lineup - Your Breakdown

Vanden Plas and Evergrey: As close as I can get..this will be my first time seeing Evergrey!!
Creation End: Love the debut album..up front
Voyager: love these guys after buying "I am the Revolution" at the Insider Sale
Eldritch: watching from the soundboard
Mob Rules: up front..love the last album
Arcturus: probably watch from the seats..they seem like a band you need to see live..not impressed with their cds
Sanctuary: since I'm co-sponsoring Sanctuary, I'll be in front of the stage! \m/ \m/
Haken: not too impressed with these guys, maybe watch a few songs, shop or drink at the bar
WHW: same as Haken
Red Circuit: probably watch from the seats
Labyrinth: seats
Dream Evil: on the rail for these guys!
Therion: At this point, I expect to be exhausted, either at the bar or back at the Artmore Courtyard

Vanden Plas is my uncontested favorite band, period, not just of this show. You probably couldn't slap the grin off of my face with a battle axe during their set.

Labyrinth - They have always ticked me off because they can't create a release that is great from end to end, but much like Brainstorm, a "greatest hits" by them is pure bliss. I expect them to be fantastic.

Red Circuit - They are a little mellow for me, but Chity's voice really works for me. I have been a fan of Chity's for many years. I think they could be a surprise band.

Sanctuary...... if the vocals can be pulled off.... this could be epic. This could be like the Accept performance.

Vanden Plas: Been disappointed both times they cancelled...this will be a great start to the show!
Evergrey: Awesome! Their last 2 discs are only meh, but their live show will be interesting due to the new blood
Creation's End: The disc is boring...we'll see
Voyager:I tried two different discs, unimpressed
Eldritch: dinnertime!
Mob Rules: The last disc is smoking!
Arcturus: not my thing
Sanctuary: This is a must see! Talk about one of the influential discs of my youth!

Haken: They grew on me, like a fungus! Very proggy and very quirky, I'll stay for this
While Heaven Wept: I'll check it out, but not really making its mark with me yet.
Red Circuit: Nope
Labyrinth: Another must see! The newest disc is amazing!
Dream Evil: Big cheesy metal...yep!
Therion: My night ends early...I absolutely despise this band, and I have tried many different times. Not my bag

I am still at the stage where I am trying to convince myself to go, since this is usually a $2000 trip for my wife & I, all costs added. On the other hand, Glenn throws such a great gig that its never felt too expensive! I hate to say it, but as I get older it gets harder and harder to make it to Atlanta. Some day I won't attend anymore, which is sad but true. The fest is the best thing going in the USA and the day I quit going is going to be something that I don't look forward to.

Vanden Plas: Definitely!
Evergrey: Tom's worth it....definitely!
Creation's End: Don't have the disc yet....always make it for the first band
Voyager: Absolutely love these guys....hope the live set is as good as the albums
Eldritch: Will try....had a couple discs when prepping for Powerfest appearance (which I missed).
Mob Rules: Have some old CDs of these guys...need to get the new one. I seem to remember the singer is really good. Will definitely be watching
Arcturus: Always give each band a chance....anticipate weirdness...watch from the seats
Sanctuary: Really, really trying to like these guys....but difficult. We'll see...

Haken: Yes, definitely if just for the musicianship
While Heaven Wept: Trying to like them. Hopefully they will grab me in live performance...
Red Circuit: I seem to remember this disc had good production, but slightly boring tunes. Chity is worth checking out. I'll be there...
Labyrinth: Only have the latest, and I like it. Definitely!
Dream Evil: Love these guys....going to be sweaty for this....definitely!
Therion: Not much for the songwriting and operatic voices, but have to say that the live sound is huge. The spectacle itself is cool to watch. Will be up in the seats trying to stay awake...

Here are mine, beginning with Thursday:

Vanden Plas: Will drink during their set, from beginning to end. Fully expect to be the only person in the hallway at this time.

Evergrey: They're a fun band to watch, I'll probably catch some to most of their set.

Creation's End: So far, I'm 50/50 on their stuff. I'll give them a few songs to see what the huzzalabah is about.

Voyager: Jesus christ I am so there.

Eldritch: Still haven't checked them out thougerally.

Mob Rules: See above

Arcturus: See above

Sanctuary: Early Drinking. Hey, I don't care for 80's metal.

Haken: I'll give them a few songs.

While Heaven Wept: See above.

Red Circuit: Shit owns.

Labyrinth: Haven't checked them out, fully expect to enjoy them.

Dream Evil: If I'm drunk, it may be awesome. If I'm totally sober, I'm doing it wrong.

Therion: I remember them from PP5, and It was an interesting experience. I don't really know if it's one I care to repeat. It depends on how everything goes.

Vanden Plas - love this band. I'm really looking forward to their set.
Evergrey- their music is hit or miss for me, but they'll be fun to see live.
Creation's End- Their cd made my top 10 of 2010. A must see for me.
Voyager- I checked them out based upon the YouTube postings here on the board. Tight, melodic songs and a great singer. Should be very entertaining.
Eldritch- intriguing. We'll see.
Mob Rules- I lean more towards the prog side rather than the power side. I'll give them a couple of songs to decide if I am sticking through the whole set.
Arcturus- Their music doesn't appeal to me. I hear they are great live, so I'll give them a shot. I expect I'll be stocking up on food and beer halfway through.
Sanctuary- I'm ashamed to say I know nothing of their music. I pretty much missed the whole decade of the 90's.
Haken- Yes, please. Insane musicianship. See below.
While Heaven Wept. Loved VOL, not as familiar with their other stuff. Excited about seeing them.
Red Circuit- If they sound as good live as they do on cd, should be a great set.
Labyrinth- I'm having to educate myself about them, but Return to Heaven Denied Pt II has received heavy rotation on my iPod.
Dream Evil- See Mob Rules.
Therion- I am looking forward to seeing what they can pull off live.

My .02

Vanden Plas: I love this band, and thought they were great live that one year they actually made it here. I'll be watching the whole set.

Evergrey: I've been attending PPUSA since '02, so I've seen Evergrey enough that it's not a huge deal. I have much love for the band though, so of course I'll be there for their whole set.

Creation's End: I don't know much about this band, and unless I run across their album used in the next 9 months I'll be going into their set "blind." I'll give them a chance to impress.

Voyager: HUGE fan of this band. I still can't believe they're coming. I won't miss a second.

Eldritch: This band never did much for me. I'll give them a song or two to win me over, assuming I don't need this time to change my pants after the Voyager set!

Mob Rules: I've become a big fan of theirs in the last couple of years, and am thrilled they're playing. I'll be there the whole time.

Arcturus: I have one of their albums, but am not a major fan. I'll be watching for the spectacle though, and to say I was there when people talk about it 10 years from now.

Sanctuary: I wouldn't miss this for the world. It will be the perfect end to an epic day of metal.

Haken: I'm probably the only person who didn't absolutely love their debut. It seems like you had to wait 15 minutes for a song to rock out a bit. They'll get a song or two (hell, that's half their set) to change my mind though.

While Heaven Wept: This should be interesting. I've only heard their Lovesongs for the Forsaken disc, but I enjoy the doomier stuff.

Red Circuit: I've never heard them. They'll get a song or two to convince me.

Labyrinth: Yeah, this is long overdue. I'm expecting this to be very impressive.

Dream Evil: I'm not a big fan, but how can you go wrong with a bunch of power metal songs about being metal. Alcohol will only enhance the experience.

Therion: I was new to them when I saw them at PPUSA V, and was blown away. I'm looking forward to seeing them again now that I actually know most of the songs.

Vanden Plas: Don't know them very well, but I've liked what I've heard so far.

Evergrey: Duh.

Creation's End: I'll sit through.

Voyager: I'll sit through

Eldritch: Ehh. We'll see if I like them after the performance I guess. I dunno what to think about them at the moment.

Mob Rules: These are one of those bands where I'm like: Oh yeah I've forgotten about them! I'll sit through em.

Arcturus: Intrigued by them. This will be an interesting performance. They definitely have my attention.

Sanctuary: I'll definitely enjoy

Haken: I'm sure I'll enjoy. How much depends on how good of a live band these guys are.

While Heaven Wept: I'll sit through and see if I like them more afterwards.

Red Circuit: I've heard of these guys before but its been quite while since I've played their albums. I'm sure I'll enjoy their show.

Labyrinth: See Mob Rules

Dream Evil: WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Therion: Not really a fan but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

This year is kinda like last year for me, I'm just here to get my live metal fix. Evergrey and Dream Evil are the bands that are making me pay up for each night.

Bump because this is a great thread. LongShot9 makes me feel better about my Voyager "not a review" review.

Getting into Eldritch's Blackenday now, probably buy its preceding album - they've got a cool Faith No More vibe... but better. I just realized that 3 of my favorites are back to back to back on Friday.

Haken: not too impressed with these guys, maybe watch a few songs, shop or drink at the bar

I totally retract my earlier statement, this CD grew on me...FAST!!:worship:
I totally love it now and I expect these guys to be the "sleeper" band of this year's fest, the same way Seventh Wonder impressed me last year with their set!

Woah Woah Woah better than FNM??:loco:

I liked what FNM had to offer, but I couldn't listen to more than 15 minutes without getting a headache. Eldritch - no such problem. Of course, I have ONLY listened to Blackenday.

Don't get me wrong - Epic is one of my favorite all time works of music for the sheer audacity of it all. But one FNM song, and my fix has been had for a week. Listened to them a lot while working the kitchen and dishpit at Dante's, back in the day...

Crap, now I'm going to have to go back, do a side-by-side listen, and probably retract my earlier statement. I hate you.

I actually wonder how many people have actual different breakdowns than what they originally posted.

I've since picked up Haken's CD and I think it is ok. Definitely more of a prog rock vibe.

Red Circuit has grown on me a little more. I'm not really blown away by it, but it is solid.

Vanden Plas: I'll watch the majority of their set because I've been waiting a long time to see them. However, I'm not as excited about them as I feel I should be. I'm not as big of a VP fan as I used to be. Got Far Off Grace and The God Thing back in 2002, and I loved those albums and still do, but I haven't checked out anything since. I was really stoked when they were supposed to play and really bummed when they had to drop off (which has nothing to do with me "not liking them as much as I used to"), so I should be more stoked that I'm FINALLY getting to see them. I will pick up some of their more recent albums. I've been hearing a lot of great shit about the Seraphic Clockwork.

Evergrey: I love Evergrey, seen them 6 times or so, so many that I honestly lost count. I plan to watch their whole set, but if I have to leave for some reason I won't feel too bad, having already seen them a bunch. But as I said, my plans are to watch the whole thing.

Creation's End: Only heard 1 song so far. I do plan to check out the album before PP. If the album really wows me, I'll watch the whole set. If it doesn't or if I don't get to check it out before the show, I'll just watch 2 or 3 songs to see what I think and decide whether to watch more. I am a fan of Mike DiMeo's (the guy who was in Riot and on the one non-Jorn Masterplan album) vocals so I do look forward to see him live, too.

Voyager: Need to check this band out still. If I still haven't heard them by the festival, I'll watch the first few songs to see if they win me over. I've heard great things about them & I remember seeing their CDs for sale for pretty cheap ($8 or so, correct me if I'm wrong) at the "Insider Sale" but by that point I was broke and couldn't get anything.

Darkwater: Another band that I've been meaning to check out for years but have yet to do so. Will definitely check out some of their set.

Eldritch: Will watch the whole set, may even go to rail for this. Huge Eldritch fan. Been waiting a long time for this. Mega-huge thanks to Glenn for bringing them over, and thanks to Steve, Dave, and Alicia for sponsoring them!:headbang:

Mob Rules: Same as Eldritch. Been waiting a long time to see them, have all the albums, big fan, yada yada yada, blah blah blah, all that shit...VERY STOKED!:kickass:

Arcturus: Probably the band I'm most excited about. Never thought I'd get to see them live, and the fact that they are reuniting to play PP makes it all the better. Can't fucking wait for this! :headbang::headbang::kickass::kickass: (also can't wait to see the reactions of people who don't know anything about Arcturus:heh:)

Sanctuary: I really like Sanctuary, but I can safely say that I'm a casual Sanctuary fan. I'll watch the set from the back & let the die-hard fans have the floor & good seats.

Haken: Hadn't heard of them until the announcement. Haven't checked them out yet, but like Voyager, Creation's End, and Darkwater, I'll catch at least some of their set to see what I think.

While Heaven Wept: Haven't heard them yet but I have every intention of checking this band out before PP. Will watch their set.

Red Circuit: Their 1st album was ok, IMO, liked their 2nd better. Will catch most of their set.

Labyrinth: Finally get to see Labyrinth! Same as Mob Rules & Eldritch & Arcturus, watch their whole set, possibly get as close to the front as possible.

Dream Evil: Same as Sanctuary. I'll watch from the side, let the die-hards have the floor. I love Dragonslayer & United, but the rest of their stuff is give-or-take with me. I'm sure their set will be really, really fucking fun, so I might wind up getting really into their live show and enjoy it more than I thought I would. They might have that effect where you wind up liking a band a lot more after seeing them live.

Therion: Very excited to see Therion again. The new album kicks ass and they always put on an amazing show.

Vanden Plas - THE BAND to see
Evergrey - Since they are going to do ISotT in entirity, it should be cool
Creations End - Not familiar
Voyager - pretty good stuff should be good
Eldritch - Really like some of their stuff. Should be fun
Mob Rules - Has never clicked with me
Arcturus - does little for me on disc
Sanctuary - Can't wait for this.
Haken - does little for me
While Heaven Wept - does little for me
Red Circuit - Been a fan of Chity's for over 10 years. Great singer. Can't wait to see these guys
Labyrinth - Depending on their setlist selection, this band could be awesome. Love their s/t disc, but they have lots of good songs. Could be a darling of the show
Dream Evil - I have tried because of the hype, but never been able to get into these guys
Therion - one of those bands I just don't "get."

Bryant

Yeah - I am finally getting to Therion's stuff on my iPod at work... sometimes I think I know what they are doing - and then WHOOSH the music goes somewhere else, and as soon as my feet get under me WHAM they spin 270 degrees to something new.

I will likely be up in the rafters, shooting with a telephoto, and trying not to laugh at the crazy juxtaposition of these people playing on the same stage as Sanctuary and Arcturus. I will probably smile all the way on my way back home, and be sad that it's over for another year.

I have found something good in every band listed for this year, though - I more excited than I have been for any other show.

Vanden Plas - Have not been hooked on them as of yet, but I will definitely watch.
Evergrey - I like Tom's vocals and guitar, don't much like the band as a whole. Too middle ground/modern in a lot of ways for me. The 'Solitude/Dominance..' stuff will be the best for me, wouldn't mind seeing those played.
Creations End - Need to get familiar.
Voyager - Their debut left me way cold despite having some parts that were great. I will give the newer stuff a chance.
Eldritch - Need to check out more, haven't heard enough but it has sounded promising.
Mob Rules - Cool band, will watch. Definitely want to get into them more.
Arcturus - Half and half for me, will be interesting to watch. Don't dig some of the older lyrical stuff.
Sanctuary - Don't care since I dislike Warrel's vocals...
Haken - Actually haven't heard of them before their booking, so need to check out.
While Heaven Wept - Don't like much....yet? Up in the air...
Red Circuit - Cool band, will definitely watch.
Labyrinth - The reason I'm going, a top 5 band for me, love everything except most of '6 Days' and 'Sons'. I will be the guy in the t-shirt.
Dream Evil - The early stuff has got some really great songs, but the constant joking gimmick really kind of sours me on the band...a few songs is one thing, a whole career out of it is something else.
Therion - Decent at best for me...they are not BAD, but for me they just never go THERE......

I don't understand one thing... how is it possible, that people (as devoted to the music and the fest as they can be - or so they claim to) still haven't taken a little bit of time to check out all the bands and perhaps get familiar? I mean, I really don't get it... It's not like he announces the bands a month before the festival...

"Sure, let me NOT open my mind to a new band that's playing at the festival next year, instead I am going to listen to the same old album by (insert band here) album for the trillionth time..."
