PPV Cheers and Jeers thread

Well cheers back atcha, Deron, for a superior job on the sampler and program, as well as on the website..they just get better every year! :)

And I'll second (or third?) the jeers regarding the stairs..as someone who hosed her knees last year thanks to the lack of lighting/marking on them, I avoided going down there in the dark entirely this year.

I forgot one more jeer.....The lighting guy who turned on the white "crowd" lights when Dreamscape started flinging CDs out into the audience. The band may have been able to see where they were throwing them, but I know I couldn't see them coming at me on the main floor at all.

We remarked on the stairs being hard to navigate and seeming darker this year.

Cheers to:

-Glenn for another great weekend!
-Daniel and Peter of Tad Morose for teaching us Swedish

Jeers to:

-Daniel of Tad Morose for telling me I was saying "I like your band" when I was actually saying something much worse!!!

Ah..................good times!!

Cheers:
-Glenn for being the MAN
-Linda for not wussing out and the Edguy 'graphs
-Andy from Brainstorm for being a very cool guy
-My bro's in Magistral, even though I missed their set due to IVAN (that MF'er!)
-Tobias for the crazy stage antics (bringing back the high kicks!!)
-All the cool people I met or got to hang out with again
-Big Ben for handing over that guitar pick that Daniel Gildenlow threw at his head!
-C2T for making the trek once again
-Deron for a great sampler/interviews in a much improved show program
Jeers:
-that bastard who stole C2T's pick
-Ivan!! damn you - held up on a plane for 7 hours by a storm and then I get to the airport and there is hardly any RAIN!? WTF?
-people who bought out all the copies of Dreamscape's VERY. ( hah I was too slow)

Yeah I cant think of many Jeers anyways

Cheers - Agreement with y'all above!

Jeers - To security for not keeping the aisles open. During previous years, security was on your ass in a second if you were caught in the aisles. That certainly wasn't the case this year. There is nothing more frustrating to have to bump your way through people standing in a main entrance or exit aisle and then have them look at you like your some kind of prick because you need to use the aisle. Same thing for people parking their lazy asses on the aisle steps. The steps are lethal enough without any kind of lighting.

Cheers:

Glenn - For putting on the best show ever, and giving my lazy ass something to do each year. :)
The bands - For putting on a great show, and not doing anything incredibly stupid.
Fairfield - Cheap rates, staff members that actually appreciate us and van drivers willing to go anywhere in any weather.
Shane - For putting together another great Pre-Party.
Earthlink Live - The staff and service was great.
Shaye, Greg, Paula, Bryant, etc - For helping Tracie have a great time at her first ProgPower!
The table that kept buying us drinks at the Cheetah on Wednesday night.

Jeers:
Glenn - For making me wait a whole friggin' year to do this again! :D
Dominoes Pizza - For taking your sweet ass time delivering our pizza Friday. The crew needs to eat, dammit!
Grenada - For being jerks about letting us party. Enjoy the empty rooms next year.

For the Cheers I forgot - y'all were great! :)
For the Jeers I forgot - you all suck! :D

--Mike

CHEERS:
-Glenn, for putting this thing on
-Glenn's crew for helping Glenn put this thing on (couldn't group this one with Glenn, he deserved his own "-")
-Mike, for exposing me to the best concerts I have ever been to.
-Ben, for having a huge dome
-Lucho on Friday night
-Lucho and Magistral for being some of the coolest, and most sincere people I have ever met.
-Shaking hands with ATL's own Lil'John, Friday night at Cheetah's
-Andy from Brainstorm for showing humanity a lesson of kindness and humility
-The Crowne Plaza Hotel for:
a) actually making my bed each morning
b) supplying two towels per person, per room hahaha
-There were some very, very cute girls at PP this year
-Southern people, for being very cordial and understanding. Much nicer than here in Boston.

JEERS:
-Ivan, for making Mike and I miss Magistral on Thursday night
-The ass who stole my pick. If Earthlink was still Center Stage, you and I would be in a Battle Royal right now.
-Ben, for thinking I was a spam/porn-bot hahaha
-Flying - I hate it
-B.O. It's called DEODERANT people - USE IT. And I'm not talking about the B.O that is expected after 8+ hours of rocking out to crazy metal.

Cheers to the camara guy who brought me a glass of water before the Edguy set so I wouldn't have to lose my front row spot.

No problemo! I know what it is like to stand in one spot for hours so you can get and keep a primo spot in the front row.

Hahah, hey Sexy Chaddy, I got a pic of you and Mike in my camera. Mikes sneering like a bunch of potheads got away from him and he pulled a Reno 911 and not a Shield (hes a cop). Next time you IM me I wont hit no.

Anyways heres my cheers and jeers.

Hoorahs to:

Noah, Steen, Ed, Yan, and Yans Wife for making this a killer group to chill with this year.

JONAH for making it. He spent the night in Detroit and around 13 hours worth of flying just to make it to spoon with me, haha

Mike for not giving a shit I was swigging tequila at the patio party and cuffing me and taking me to become Jamals new man toy

Glenn of course but thats a given

Mike Clark and Shaye you were like the first people I met at PP III and Im glad to run into you every year. STEED RULES

Steve / Iron Plant for metalling out many a time

The hot bartender of course, I dont think anyone even knows her name though.

Andy for kicking so much ass as a frontman. If I didnt suck at singing Id want to form a band just so I could emulate him

Deron Blevins and Matt Smith, you rule, even if you "still suck" in the program haha.

Dirk, Jens, and Felix for chilling at the patio party, I really thought theyd bail as soon as their set was over.

Wuthering Heights and Intromental for the fine dining at Hooters.

Daniel Gildengow for hitting me in the forhead with a pic. I guess he knew I wasnt a fan but what the hell, I gave it to Mike and I thought hed cry. Id have felt like an asshole keeping it anyway.

The guy that asked me to move over when I was smoking in the Stevie Wonder section during Kamelot. Instead of my usual "eat a dick" response I figured since he was actually nice and cordial about it I'd put it out. Besides, I knew I shouldnt have been doing it anyways.

Jeers:

Um.... Considering I didnt have a shirt ripped this year like last year I would have to cop out and say I dont have any downsides for this year in terms of experience. I know thats weak but its true.

Ben

Cheers:

--Glenn, of course!
--The crew and the staff and anyone else involved in putting on this show. I know how hard you all work to bring this off
--All the bands. Everyone seemed like they were having a great time on stage
--The crowd. I only witnessed one incident of "jackass" behavior. Everyone else was super cool, as always.
--Everyone that came up and congratulated me and/or Mare on our upcoming marriage. I think I only posted about this on PM and the Portnoy board, but people that I had never met knew about it...Thanks!

Jeers:
--A two hour flight taking 8+ hours. No pre-party for us...
--The Death Stairs at the venue. Once again, I almost killed myself, but someone grabbed me before I went tumbling down. I need to bring a flashlight next year
--The one vending machine at the Residence Inn breaking and them not putting any effort into fixing it. No diet coke after friday afternoon...this is not a good thing!!! You'd think a large hotel would have more than one vending machine...bizarre...

All I can think of at the moment. I'm still tired...

Oh yeah:

Jeers to Bryan for saying I look like Bette Middler

Cheers to Bryan for saying I look like a much younger and MUCH MUCH MUCH prettier Bette Middler.

:p Most still say Neve Campbell! LOL

Bryan, you rock dude.

-MetalRose

Ha ha ha next year you'll have to sing "The Rose" >:p~

Bryant

This is cool... here's mine

Cheers

- Glenn, duh, you rock dude, seriously rock
- Glenn again, for bringing out the crew and prop'n them
- Deron for doin some awesome stuff all around for this show
- Jax for getting the TEoF list together yet again for lunch
- Aki, for just making it from Finland.
- Dustin from Kategory V for just making it after his plane caught on fire.
- Brainstorm for upping the ante on what I expect for live bands
- Urban, for just sitting down and talking to me instead of just shaking my hand and walking away
- Timo K for coming all the way just to hang out and sing 1 song
- The girl that looked like the singer from Nightwish, my eyes were happy all weekend.
- The entire crowd there, everyone was just way too cool.
- The dude wearing the makeup and chains... those rum soaked berries kicked ass, thanks for sharing.
- The Fairfield for letting everyone party

Jeers:

- Whoever was in charge of the lighting. Spotlights from in front of the stage would have been nice. If they were there then they need to stronger, IMO.
- Whoever was in charge of the volume during solos. HELLO, we wanna hear the solos.
- The vinyl, for only having like 4 pitchers in the entire joint and taking way to long to make food.
- Earthlink Live, for not letting us take drinks outside... every smoke I had would have been outside if that was the case.
- Lighting on the steps, thank god for lasik surgery otherwise I woulda died goin down for Edguy and Kamelot cause I was drunk by then.
- My digital camera for not having enough flash power to take decent pix from the floor 5-8 rows back.
- The price of beer at these and any and all events.
- Brainstorm, for upping the ante on every show I'm gonna see from now and fornever. I can hear myself now for the next few years "good, but not as good as Brainstorm"
- Myself, for riding the elevator with Timo and not even realizing it.

That's all I can think of for now.

cheers to all the boarders from all the message boards I post on

cheers to glenn for hooking me up for a ticket 1 month prior to the fest, not realizing how much it was worth to this "birthday at the fest" boy.

cheers to the beautiful bartender for allowing me to take a pic plus being the first to wish me a happy birthday as soon as midnight sunday clicked.

cheers to Tad Morose for prooving me right when I told them they would go over so well in front of the killer progpower crowd.

cheers to brainstorm for making me an even larger fan after seeing their live performance.

cheers for Pain of Salvation for single handedly making my weekend a perfect birthday a huge success.

cheers for delta for only being delayed 1.5 hours on Friday morning as I can truly understand their crew needing a certain amount of sleep. Also, thanks for having dodgeball as the movie!!:Spin:

cheers for everyone else helping keep beer company's stocks rising but also for the 6.5 years of non drinking for me. I am goofy enough without the alcohol.:headbang:

cheers for the Hampton being a cool yet cheap hotel to stay at.

cheers for glenn in not being too mean to me when he turned me away from the Tad Morose autograph line when I showed up too late. I would have loved to talk to them but I know the autographs must go on and they had the line for the next session already being set up.

jeers for smoking allowed in any venue.

jeers for the stairs to left and right of stage. People got to see me take a plunge as I ran back and forth taking pics. what is up with having all small steps with one large step in between:erk: :ill: :Smug:

jeers for me waiting too long to get a XL music of mass destruction shirt and they were out of them.

jeers for me in not having 20ish extra dollars to get a brainstorm shirt.

Cheers -

Glenn first and foremost. Without him, we wouldn't be on this forum talking about the great time we had.
Tad Morose for hanging out throughout the whole festival.
All the bands playing their asses off.
All the fans for supporting them.
The venue and the staff (including Glenn's guys) for doing all the dirty work.
The Fairfield Inn - for tolerating our wild asses.
The vendors for having some cool stuff to be bought.
To all of you that attended, the greatest metal-fans in the world !!!

Jeers-

Your's truly. I can't manage attending PP without causing some kind of trouble. This year, during the end of Dreamscape, I somehow must have pulled off my gold badge (hanging on a lanayard) when handing my camera (which was strapped around my neck) to the wife to get a pix of me with Urban Breed and dropped it on the floor. Doh !! I almost had a coronary when I noticed it was gone !!

Cheers: The whole Granada staff for being so tolerant and for letting me conduct the pre-meet on Thursday inside the lobby instead of outside during Ivan.
Nancys Pizza: 15 minutes from phoning the order until the doorbell to my room rang. And this was on thursday night in the pouring rain. Gave the guy a tip though
Talking to the real tall guy in the maroon all-over Edguy shirt backstage for two hours and finding out later it was Felix Bohnke's (Edguy) little brother.
Letting Steve "Doc" Wacholz from Savatage borrow my Cd player so he could listen to the "Streets" record and refresh his memmory. When he returned the player they were accompanied by two signed drumsticks from the "Sirens" record.

Jeers: The people that were laying in wait in the Granada lobby preying on the pizza delivery guys. They would try to weasel the pizza out of the guy saying it was theirs when it was not. Not really a jeer but really kinda funny.

whew, too many cheers here, but....

Cheers to Glenn for another successful year! Even the Atlanta newspaper's write-up, last Thursday, was positive...or at least not negative. Maybe they'd heard about the other four years here? :)

Cheers also to his crew, always a good job in staging and timely set-changes!

Cheers to the Fairfield for being remarkably tolerant of, let's face it, a pretty weird crowd. Corporate suits or vacation travellers we ain't! I kept waiting for their security dude to come up and stop the "Midnight at 6am" performance on the patio deck, but he never showed. Whew! Cheers also to their courtesy van drivers.

Cheers to the venue security people at Earthlink, especially the guys working the door and handing out the drinking tags. They were cool.

Cheers to all my old friends I see only once a year -- especially Aki, all the way from fuckin' Finland -- and a special shout-out to some new friends: MetalRose, MaxX, Alina/Squeak, Stephan and Gus from Adagio, and a few more.

Cheers to Midnight for giving a very select few of us one helluva treat early Sunday morning (but some jeers, too, for missing his autographing appearance and WTF was up with that thing with Kamelot?)

Cheers to all the bands for great shows; there really wasn't a weak one in the bunch!

Cheers to Chinese Buddha, for having a big takeout order ready within twenty minutes. $70 of food, all packed nicely in a cardboard box, not one item missing. --At 3am. (!)

Jeers to Earthlink Live for no stairway lighting -- and worse, no lighting at all between bands for awhile. I'll fuckin' BUY you some reflective tape for the stair edges. Really. (But otherwise, the venue was its usual excellent self.)

Jeers to Houlihan's for not being quite ready for a 50-person party. Granted, we told you 35-40, but you wouldn't have been ready for that number either.

Jeers to City Cafe for unusually slow service on Friday night.

--and that's all I can think of right now.
