just wanted to find out if there was a version of or equivalent to the 'multiband compressor' plugin that comes stock with cubase, that I can buy or download as freeware for pro tools? I had really grown to love that plugin, it is absolutely killer on kick drum and low-end instruments and I am having a hard time living without since (involuntarily) switching to digi/protools.

any help would be awesome!! thanks a bunch in advance, sorry if this belongs in the gear discussion forum, please move if needed.

good ones that are freeware I'm not so sure about, maybe the Reaper guys can chime in

as for ones you could buy ... Waves C4 is a popular one and McDSP MC2000 is a great one as well but they're both a bit pricey although Mc2000 is on sale for like $180 for the native version at the moment

would it be unethical to get some sort of cracked version and use a wrapper in order to use it in pro tools? seems ok to me, considering how i purchased cubase SX and have it on my laptop; i am just running pro tools on my main recording rig and don't want to bounce between computers.

as for c4, i like it and also own it on my PC laptop but to me it doesn't do what the stock steinberg MB comp does. that one is completely idiot proof, and even the presets are awesome and i am just accustomed to using it.

how so? not seeing logic here

Im not seeing your logic either :)

so, you've got Cubase, and there is a Multiband compressor included with that, which i'd imagine only works in Cubase.
so then you want to download a crack of a Multiband compressor for ProTools, your rational being that you've got the Cubase one so its not wrong?

or am I missing something?

its probably just best to not even bring up the subject of using cracked software. I can't say for sure since I don't use Cubase or know much about it but if the one you like so much comes stock with it, couldn't you just buy the version of it you want for pretty cheap from them? If not, I would suggest getting a demo version of the MC2000 and see if you like that one. $180 is actually not that much for a really good multiband comp

i mean the exact same plugin, just the stock steinberg one; but a cracked version of it that i can use independently on protools with the help of a wrapper. I don't see how this is different to loading the same copy of windows or something onto two computers that you own, or loading the waves bundle onto two computers. I paid for the product outright, it just happens to not work on the system that i'm using so i want to find a way around that.
