Pronounciation

It's bow-dum.

In Finland... it is pronounced boo-dum apparently because Alexi says bow-dum when saying the band name but when he announces song titles he still says boo-dum during the live shows.

So let me get this straight....

Finnish say it like "Boo" - dom (I prefer this one)

Swedish say it like Bottom

Americans say it like - Bow dum

Ughh I am confused. :erk:

I talked to a friend from Finland and he helped me out on these.

Bodom
Boo-dum

Alexi Laiho
A-Leek-zee Lie-a-hoe

Alexander Kuopalla
All-ex-an-deer Koo-Ope-all-a

Henka T. Blacksmith
Hane-ka (not really sure about his real last name)

Janne Wirman
Ya-nae Weer-men

Jaska Raatikainen
Yahsk-a Rah-ti-kine-en

There now you can pronounce them the Finnish way but i still cant get over saying Bodom like Boe-dum, the Boo doesnt stick with me.

well guys i am sure that the bodom dudes know that we are american(or at least to the americans in here) and probably don't know the correct pernunciations of their finnish words and names, and they will probably let it slide if you don't say there name correctly but i say bodom like sodom and their names like with the normal american ized version and thats the way it will probably stay cuz i am a straight up white boy

its boo-dum even listen to alexi on live in seoul, when hes says "Lake Boo-dum" and this one is like boo-dum again, this is called "Silent night, Boo-dum Night"

I agree. Thats is how I have been saying it all along. Ever since I heard that song. Before them I used to pronounce it like "bottom".

Actually, it's kinda the other way round.

The thing is that the lake was originally named by the Swedish (Bodom-träsk) when they ruled Finland years ago. The Swedish pronounce Bodom like "Boo-dom" (american pronounciation) and the Finnish way to pronounce it is "bottom" (american pronounciation again). BUT the thing is that since it was named by the Swedish, the somewhat official way to pronounce it here is indeed Boo-dom but some people here (like me) tend to use "bottom" anyway.

i know its right even goto the old SOB site when you click on their names thers some finnish dude that pronounces them.

Dude, I've never heard anyone saying "Hane-ka" (ok, maybe you happened to spell it wrong) and Wirman is not "Weer-men". Or I just don't get along with that americanized pronounciation. You just pronounce the names the way they are spelled, that's it.
MagSec4 has done it right.
However, I agree with dilema. Who cares ?!!

It`s BOO-DOM how it`s really pronounced. To say it like bou dom sounds stupid... And allu is pronounced Alexy or fuck it... Learn finnish and say bodom and alexi...
