Does anybody else think that (real) punk is dead or almost dead? Nowadays we got shitty pop-punk and emo bands that have next to nothing to do with punk. There are some true punk bands left like The Casualties, The Unseen, and The Virus and a bunch of underground street punk bands but that's about it.

Punk is far from dead. Mabye it is lifeless and devoid of originality, but a shitload of punk is still put out. It is a popular genre for amateur bands who just want to have a good time. My dad has played bass for one year, and he is in a punk band. Good punk, yeah, that is probably dead or dying. THe problem is that some punk is evolving into genres that aren't called punk, wheras metal evolves into genres called metal. (like metal evolves to death metal, punk evolves to emo, not emo-punk)

IMO, as a genre, punk is losing ground fast. In spirit, however, punk still remains. There are bands that are now more punk than punk itself.
