Do you take any mixing job if it fits in your schedule or do you pick and chose who you work with?

Also, would you turn down a higher paying job to work with a band you like with a lower budget?

Thanks.

depends on how the old bank account was looking and what my bills were that month.... mostly i like to only do projects i really enjoy... doesn't always happen for me yet though.

I just turned down a mix because of crappy vocals. I offered to come produce new vocal tracks, but the label dropped the artist instead.

You would think that I pick and choose bands with drummers who:
1. don't know what a metronome is
2. don't know that you're supposed to practice their songs before recording
3. don't know how to tune their drums ("no, you won't even need triggers, my drums sound great no matter how you hit em")

Is this coincedence?

i take anything that comes my way for demos , if it turns out crap i ask them not to put my name down

i pick and choose for albums and EPs

i pick and choose

fair enough!! i'd love to be able to do that! i just spent a whole day beat detectiveing, sample replacing and programming drums for 2 songs... Drummers who cant play are the bane of my existance!!

I guess in reply to my question asking about mastering in another thread, that means
a) No
and
b) if you have to ask you can't afford it.

lol
oh well back to diy have a fun time in the u.s

^^ LOL!

I'll choose what I'll work with, if it's not the kind of music I enjoy and know I don't think I can add too much to the band.

I've accepted being less paid for something I believed some times. When it's a crappy band, I use a pseudonyme hehehe
