rare prog from early 70s

Have any of you guys seen the Goblin music video for Suspiria, its hilarious. Its just the band playing in a smoke filled room trying to act scary.

@NFU: have you seen 'The bird with the Crystal Plumage' or 'Cat O nine tails', I haven't seen these two and I was wondering whether they are any good?

yes, theyre quite good actually...but more murder mystery plots than horror at that time....think of deep red with less violence.

Flash of the blade is an awesome song, from the best Iron Maiden album.

Kubrick wanted Pink Floyd to score 2001 (and Clockwork i think), but they turned it down, which is a shame because Obscured by clouds (a score for another movie, the valley) is a really good album.

In regards to Argento's use of metal music, i think he is using it in the sence that metal music is mostly a white male thing involving power over women. And since there is so much violence towards women in his films (the needle eye bit from Opera comes to mind) i think metal music in its cliched form works.

i think argento was a progressive rock and metal fan to an extent...if what i read was true...so none of his music choices would suprise me...but perhaps he felt those were the most intense and upbeat, yet masculine and agressive for what he was trying to get across? not sure.

Thats why I like OBC so much its alot freeier and alot less preachy than the wall and final cut, its music not a statement (not taking anything away from animals, wywh and dark side). And as nfu pointed out how can you take Atom Heart Mother seriously? or A saucerful of Secrets for that matter?

i don't recall him saying that..
i can take those 2 albums seriously cause they have excellent music on them. :-D. matter of fact i ordered SoS a couple weeks ago, and recieved it yesterday..it shipped from russia haha/

i never said that alternative....you must have me confused with kotno (i beleive he said it). regardless, i think theyre both good albums...and whether or not one needs to take them seriously to enjoy them is up to the listener...i take every album with a grain of salt though. afterall, maybe my top album is land of grey and pink? :p

all right you guys. i dont think i have ever seen anyone of you mention any of this stuff:

http://psychevanhetfolk.homestead.com/TurkishProgressive.html

prog fans who are into different prog scenes from other countries should check that link out. at the bottom of the page you will find lists of bands in alphabetical order. i think that site is owned by a dutch. cant believe some of the stuff he found (being turkish, i hadnt heard some of it myself although i really am a fan of this genre).

if you're into some bizarre prog/psyche with oriental tunes, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THAT LINK.

of course, if anyones interested and need recommendations, think i might be of some assisstance. though im pretty sure that site covers it all. almost.

breast milk. :dopey:

hu? explain!

i never said that atom heart mother and saucerful of secrets cant be taken serious...i like them both (in fact i think saucerful is their worth best). i mean of course corporal clegg or alan's psychodelic breakfast are kinda ironic but they make sense while momentary lapse of reason and the divison bell are caricature of their old albums (except for marooned and the title song of the latter which i kinda like)...if i said something else in the past i surely changed my mind...

Breast milky is one of the parts of Atom Heart Mother.

And i wasnt being bitchy narrot, i just found it odd that you didnt like thier soundtracks as much as thier other works. I didnt see how they could be thier weakest albums, ummagumma would clearly take that crown in my book (the studio side of course). The material isnt that much differenet to meddle or ahm.

I found out about the frances the mute tracklisting i was asking about. in fact, the only song that's divided is the last, which is 32min.
song 1-song 4 have their own respective tracks, while song 5=tracks 5-12

>> i see...i never read those names actually.

>> the soundtracks sound (imo) quickly written and not really heartfelt. that makes alot of a differance to me. i still like them in a way but it's just sub-standard for those days pink floyd stuff in my book.

i like floyd a lot....but theyve never had the hype for me as much as other people it seems. theyve always been a backburner band for me...in the sense that i usually listen to them when i get burnt on my other bigger favs (caravan, rush, camel, yes, king crimson, genesis, etc)...id have to say Pink Floyd is at the end of that list for me...not really sure why either. But regardless, i love all their work, and appreciate them very much.

Its all preference, see i consider yes as a back burner band they jsut don't do it for me.

Do you know any thing about an LA band called Spirit? Saw an album called Feedback and wondered if it as worth checking out.

the name rings a bell, but i cant honestly remember if ive heard them or not. let me know if theyre any good...assuming you check them out.

My copy of Hybris by Anglagard arrived today. This is one fantastic fucking prog record. Easily could have been released in 1972 and yet it doesn't give me the shits like many neo-prog bands. There is just something special about this one.
