care to share?
if he's really serious about this and he wants to try to publish it, imo he shouldn't share before he has the copyrights.

i dropped wuthering heights a few days ago, but i'm going to go back to it on wednesday. as of now, i'm happily re-reading parts of goblet of fire.

"A War Like No Other: How the Athenians and Spartans Fought the Peloponnesian War "
by Victor Davis Hanson. This book is very different than what I usually read. I saw/heard Hanson speak about this book and was immediately interested in this Greek Civil War fought in the 5th century BC. He compares this war to WWll and Vietnam. Lessons not learned will be repeated. This epic probably has some parallels to what is going on in Iraq.
This nothing to do with this book but Alexander the Great came up in the Q&A part of the program. I always thought of Alexander the Great as this great military political hero but alas I know not the facts about him. Hanson says Alexander the Great has this veneer, like Napoleon coving up what they actually were nothing but thugs and murderers. Alexander the Great killed more Greeks in his 32 years of life than the Persians did in 2 centuries.
This book is so well written understandable(I knew nothing to very little about this subject) that I'll probably read other books by Victor Davis Hanson in the future. He has written 15
other books.

Meanwhile I'm going to finish Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, read about 90 pages.

I've been looking for a biography of Reinhard Heydrich as one of my reading things is the Third Reich . Heydrich was to be Hitler's successor but the Czech resistance put an end to that thought in 1942.

Been reading Kafka much lately, read everything by him many, many times.
a Kafka parable:
If it had been possible to build the Tower of Babel without ascending it,
the work would of been permitted -

Well, when i get out of uni i should be able to dedicate more time to reading (especially during the two extremely boring weeks during which i'll be in Miami with my father (who is too different from me to be able to understand some parts of me in the slightest way), my brother (who has been turned inhuman by his inhuman girlfriend) and my grandfather (who is too boring and close-minded to be able to have a good conversation with him for a relatively long time)).

Lovecraft is way overrated imo, but I do enjoy some of his stories

I finally received A Feast for Crows and Hobb's Fool Fate :D
now I have to decide which one to read first

Claudia: Yes, my family isn't really what you would call "standard" or "cool". Almost all my family members are extremely religious (i can tolerate religious people, but anything leaning towards fanaticism annoys me greatly), a lot of them are hypocrites, and some of them are both (very religious hypocrites). I don't really trust any of them enough to talk about half of what goes on in my life. But i guess that's what friends / girlfriends / DT forum members are for. ;)

Hitori: I agree that Lovecraft is way overrated.

My mother is reading "The princess bride". I watched part of the movie and loved it (it's hilarious), and she watched it all (i think) and also loved it. Looking forward to reading the book when she finishes it.

Oh, i watched "A clockwork orange" finally yesterday. Good movie, but after reading the book the movie was quite disappointing.

The last book i read was Baby Jane by Sofi Oksanen, this finnish lesbian girl. And, surprisingly, the book was about a lesbian girl :p I very rarely find books that are interesting enough for me to read, but i read this book in 3 days. Even though it wasn't even that good. It was good, but not that good. I guess i was just bored :p

I tried to read DragonLance because my boyfriend is a fan and forced me to try, but it was too boring for me so i stopped reading it after 20 pages or so.

I know. I was just hoping he wasn't that serious about it. ;) Nah, i hope he'll just tell us whenever he publishes it so we can go out and buy it or something.

I have been sharing my work with a few close people to me with promise of destroying the copy within 24 hours of reading it.

If it gets published I will definitely tell you all about it! :)

Oh and my novel tells a small tale that takes place in a much much bigger tale.

Think of it as:

One huge world event happens
Another huge world event happens
My story takes place inbetween and some events seem very small but trust me, they arn't.

The Origin and Reasons of Russian Communism from Berdajev (or Berdyajeff if you prefer) - Ive been reading it for some time now and I think Im finally beginning to understand. A great plus is that its not written by someone whos never lived in a communist country.

last book i read and really liked was terry pratchett's night watch.
i'm in the process of reading something else but still at the beginning, and then i'd hope to finally find some books i've been looking for for quite a while.

I'd really wnat to have a read at Luke Rhinehart's "The Dice Man" but I can't find it in any of my surrounding libraries or book store...Right now I'm reading Sartre's "La Nausée" for the second time.
