Recabinet 3 - Out Now

If I understood the e-mail I received I should be eligible for the free update to the new software having bought the 1st version when it was on discount. But when logging in it says it can't find my username or something similar. Did I just understand the mail wrong or is it bugged?

Nice GUI, nice blah blah, but I feel it sounds too thin and flat. I always need to use the 121 mic to get some low end. In mid and far positions I can't listen to the natural room reverb or damping or whatever you want to name it.
I think Catharsis Impulses have better low end, and better general response using a single sm57.
I hoped better improvements instead of the classic way of making impulses + a nice eater of resources GUI, sorry man.

I simply can't believe that nobody suffers from the massive CPU load under windows 7...OK, not the newest PC but running Win7 with a Quadcore Q6600 and 4 GB RAM with just ONE instance of Recabinet makes the hole thing absolutely unplayable.

No problems with any other VST, even with dozens of them though...:u-huh:

+1

I have 10-15% of CPU Load for each instance of recabinet in W7 :loco:

So, do the IRs sound better than the IRs from Recabinet 2? Never really dug the old Recabinet IRs all that much... much prefer Ryan's s-preshigh and Greg's ASEM RECTO V30 L2..

Problems here in my pc too, tons of plugins and not a problem, when I activate the plugin the sound starts to crackle like the pc is overloaded.

Specs: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t, 4 GB DDR3 7-8-7-24 Ripjaws, Mother Asus Crosshair IV, HD WD 1TB 7200 Black 64mb, Win7 64bits Ultimate, Reaper x64 as host.

Windows Recabinet 3.0.0 has been reclassified as public beta due to widespread problems. The fix should drop in a month or less. Rigourous internal beta testing was done on a wide variety of systems prior to launch but the issues didn't present themselves, CPU usage could have been better but wasn't the deal killer most Windows users are experiencing now. The good news is that we know exactly how to fix it, it's just time consuming to implement.

Anyone got it to work under mac cubase 5.5? I bought the recabinet 2, I'm considering to getting the version 3 when I get verification that it works "perfectly". Also I wouldn't mind the updates that we suggested on one of the previous threads like eq bypass :)

Mac Cubase 5.5 is working perfectly with Recabinet 3.0.0 here on two Macs.

If it doesn't find you, it means you're eligible instead for the discounted upgrade, so your login/password will work here:

http://www.recabi.net/support/upgrade-from-recabinet-2-x-and-1-x/

You purchased Recabinet after the $14.99 off sale went into effect. The free upgrades are a gift to those who purchased Recabinet Complete 2.0 for $69.99.

Some news...

Last night, we got an internal build going that has totally optimized the sound engine and has put the Windows version on equal footing with the Mac version in terms of CPU use (very efficient - tested on the same hardware on dual boot, CPU meters matching almost identically on Windows and Mac versions of Cubase and Reaper.) This was sooner than expected, so after we fix a few (less severe) bugs and get this out to our testing pool for some feedback, we will push the 3.0.1 bug fix update to our server as soon as possible.

I'll post again here when the update is ready, should be in less than 2 weeks from this writing.

Hello Shane, I`m new in this forum and also Im just learning mixing my own demos I`ve been using several amp sim and cab sim, but letely I`ve moved to use my own jmp-1 and just cab sim in this case recab 3 makes my preamp sound awesome!!! so from now on this is how it is going to be, Im using cubase sx3 in a pretty old an basic pc and it is works just fine for me, of course it consume a lot of cpu but that is a pc issue and I am just used to it.

So I would like to ask you for a deep knowledge of it,

- Did these impulses were made the same way as recab 2? randall poweramp ?.
- What are the tubes used on them 6L6 or EL34?.
- The position of the mic are cap, edge or cone?.
- The distances are close=grill, mid=0.5 inch, far=1 inch, am I correct?.

In recab 2 it used to be this info, well I understand that so far I`ve been just messing around with the demo wich it is sound great and I love it IMO best and more realistic sound than others that I`ve tried, maybe in the paid version it`s coming this info?.

Also I would like ask you please if you could give a recording tip about the proper volume because:

In order to save cpu this old PC that I`m using so far (working my budget to get a new one) I record my guitars in other proyect beside the main mix at a level signal of -18vu average with a maximum peak at -3 dbfs coming from my JMP-1 to my DI, then I export the track with just the cab sim( no process at all such as eq, comp,...) in 24bit / 44.1KHz for to later on import it to the main mix (I know I`m working this twice but still) as if it sould be a track taken from a real cab, mic and mic preamp. So should I keep the same level of -18vu when export it?.

Congrats on Recab3

In Recabinet 3 we picked the best mic distances and positions for the overall sound of each cabinet, so the actual techniques used vary. I can't really get into more detail about this, at this point it's better not to think of Recabinet as an "IR library" as much as a "cabinet simulator" - there's a lot of R&D that went into this and it's a matter of trade secrecy.

Have you downloaded 3.0.1? It will save you a lot of CPU power, but if you're already using it, cool. As long as your signal isn't clipping, you should be OK, and there's no reason to run your preamp into a DI - it's actually putting out a line level signal already.
