RECO: The Great Old Ones - Al Azif

Discovered this French BM group thanks to Arse Magma. Some of you may know them. They likely will appeal to fans of Altar of Plagues, though not a clone at all, but they fall into a similar post/atmospheric BM style, methinks. I only find the Lovecraft theme unfortunate as I don't think it fits the music at all.

The ending to this track here is phenomenal.


I've listened to this album through many a time, it stands out from the hordes of bands who attempt this sort of thing.

this is good stuff, agreed about the great ending. also agree about the lovecraft thing. giant inconceivable monsters that drive you insane with their very presence seems more suited to the doom genre, maybe some bleaker bm could pull it off, but the end of this song is downright triumphant (in a non-gay awesome way)

I actually think the lyrics go well with the music. Certanly Lovecraft is more commonly found in doom, and for good reason, but this works great too.
