Underground means not-mainstream, so do not recommend the most known viking bands. I know, viking metal does not have that many mainstream bands anyway....

But in the name of Valhalla, do not mention such bands that everyone has seen recommended 99999999999999,31 times. That means Bathory, Moonsorrow, Thyrfing, Mithotyn etc....Its just sort of waste of space when we see the same bands recommended over and over.

Shoot.

Amon Amarth is not really underground when it comes to viking metal. theyre pretty well known in the genre

Hades Almighty

Hades from Jersey was and will always be Hades.

Good call though, nonetheless.

They were called Hades when they released their best stuff, so I will continue to call them Hades and ignore the probably-shit thrash band.

OMG FUK U GUY

Seriously though...

Also, Tearstained should be expected to put out a new album soon.

I still have to make myself give them another chance and try an album that doesn't happen to be called "Monumental in it's Sorrow". Hopefully he'll be able to combine the sounds of two AWESOME AS FUCK bands without making it sound lamer than a person with two amputated legs! [/notfunny]

get yourself Tyr's "Eric The Red"...oh good god that album rocks. Also, if you want viking folk music type stuff, check out Fejd

Morrigan is fun, but it's really just Bathory worship, and Bathory > Bathory worship.
