Title explains it all. Give me some good doom bands to check out. I've heard minimal songs from various bands, I would like to hear what is considered the cream of the crop. You know how that goes
Thanks man, will check all of that out. I'm really looking for basically the slowest, most ambient/atmospheric and heaviest doom out there. When thinking of bands to recommend, just think slow motion, lol...and droning, I like drone a lot. A band called Yab has a song on a CD I have of theirs that is really slow, heavy and drones like crazy, I love it. No real specific style of doom though, even though I gave a description of what I'm looking for, I'm open to all types of doom, just looking for what people to consider the best.
trouble, confessor, winter, grief, candlemass (with old and new singers), las cruces, sorrow. if old-school anathema is considered doom, well that too.
I am surprised no one has mentioned Egans band Daylight Dies. I would consider them doom. They are a kick ass band. New album comes out next month too!
I know very little doom I guess, but Swallow The Sun is my favorite. Draconian is good too...think Swallow The Sun, but with a female doing the clean vocals.
There's this very awesome underground one-man band project from Norway called The Fall Of Every Season. 'From Below' is a great record, definitely recommended.
You should check out Buried Inside they are truly amazing, by far my favorite Canadian band... Their third album Chronoclast was done as a single piece album... And their sound is very unique...

Can you guys recommend specific albums from the bands you have mentioned? I'm already a big Anathema fan (FDTE is the SHIT!), so I got that already Buried Inside's clips on MySpace sound fucking pimp.
Ooh, big +1 to Green Carnation - I've only heard Light of Day, Day of Darkness, but GODDAMN do I love that CD/song, all 60 minutes of it (except maybe for the moaning chick/sax duet in the middle)
