Roll call for the PT/OPETH LA show, Wed Jul 30.

Sadly, I too echo the remarks being made with respect to the lame ass crowd. Mind you, we are talking the minority of folks here. The majority of the crowd was mellow and older, which I was kinda glad about. I was lucky enough to be near the stage with a few older Porcupine Tree fans. (I was wearing a jean jacket for those of you who may have seen me =D) For you youngsters who couldn't get in. That's really fucked lol Not much else to say, next time dudes

Anyhow, about the actual show. I got there just as Blackest Eye was ending (fucking HoB starting right on fucking time!!) They of course were amazing. I was glad to head Futile, holy shit that songs kicks my ass. Wilson is cool, interacting with the crowd a lot and playing off their energy. They closed with Trains, but not before Wilson's guitar string broke haha, they had to kill a few minutes till another guitar was getting set up. I was aware of this bands brilliant musicianship, but having seen them live, I appreciate it on a much different level.

This was the third Opeth show for me this year. Although, I generally fancy the old stuff, I found this experience to be one of the more emotionally evocational. Sheer beauty is the phrase that comes to mind to describe this experience (filtering out all the dumbfucks that were present of course). Don't know that I can pin point a climactical part yet. Though their cover of Deep Purple's Soilder of Fortune was amazing, and of course, To Bid You Farwell made me wanna tear up. I just loved it! And I got to shake hands with Mikael and Peter =D

Can't wait for the next one.

I only made it all the way to the door. My brother realized at the last second that he forgot his I.D. and they wouldn't let him in. Being the ass that he is, he wouldn't wait in the car for me while I, who always carries I.D., enjoyed the show. So I ended up driving home just as the show started, really pissed.

Oh i also wanted to mention that some necro idiot yelled out "this fuckin sucks" after opeth played windowpane and announced that the evening was to be dedicated to their mellow material. he promptly left the building.

Don't you hate idiots like this? What did he expect? ITS THE DAMNATION TOUR YOU FUCKIN MORON!

EDIT: Ya a lot of the *newer* Opeth fans were acting like a bunch of jackasses when PT was on.

That was funny shit...he then grabbed is g/f's hand and dragged her out....i was maybe 5 feet ot the right of that....just simply put..People are fucking LAME. The biggest one that got me was the girl who gave Steve Wilson the bird right to his face..

That's the second person saying this, weird. Yes, the "pass the line" folks got in earlier, but they started letting those people in at about 8:15, NOT 9:10. The place was filled up pretty good before Porcupine Tree even started.
I guess they fucked up the hours. The pass the line folks were supposed to be in before 8. Bad, bad organization!

My mistake...8:10-15 was right...That's what time i got in...I went straight to the front but lost my spot when i went to buy a t-shirt..

@Ethereal: ya that was unbelievable... but if you think about it, the people that left were tr00 necros = skinny little bitches. i doubt that they would have ever joined the mosh pit - or even came to get into the mosh pit for that matter.

Did you happen to get a glance of those fucks with "Hedious Americans" drawn with markers on their shirts? It was the "necro" that flipped off Steve Wilson and her dirty boyfriend that started pushing everybody in the middle so that he could get in and that's when a little push fight happened. Those peoeple were just dirty..:ill:

That also reminds me of how akward the crowd was....It just didn't seem Opeth if that makes any sense. There were a lot of decent people, but a lot of wierd people at the same time.

i went to house of blues plenty of times when i was under 18. Buy a ticket, stand in line, and when the guy asks for your age, just say your 18. if he asks for ID, say that your wallet had a chain on it so you left it at home.

They would never turn down a person just because he doesnt have his ID...

Hurry up and buy a ticket!

even though its a week late, WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT!!!!!!!!! i even get mistaken for being 21 when i'm only 17 bbbaaahhh!!!!!

dont worry... they turned down everyone without ID's this time around. The guy in charge was some stupid asshole afraid of losing his job so he was a bitch about the ID's - even if the person looked older than 18.

I didnt see the "hedious americans" guy, i was standed more towards the back during PTs set because i got there late.
Ya there were lots of idiots there... :ill:

He even checked me for my ID. I've been told I look like I could be close to 30, but I only turned 20 about 2 weeks ago. For you young guys, you missed a great show. That's got to be one of the best shows I've seen and that includes the opener. THE best show I have seen has to be Jag Panzer/In Flames/Iced Earth even though at the time, I didn't care that much for In Flames.
