Roope or Alexander?

I prefer Alexander, because I prefer their old style

This is exactly what I feared this would lead to.

you guys are fools. IMO alexander was definitely more than partially responsible for the wonderful classic neoclassical bodom sound... SW, HB, FTR, and, to a lesser extent HCDR... notice that HCDR is the last one that has even touches of that neoclassical goodness. Bodom lost direction when he left... fuck his playing ability; what i'm talking about is the way the interpersonal relationships in the band worked. If you don't know what i'm talking about, don't reply, because you've clearly never been in a band. and if you have, and you still disagree, your band sucks.

So you've figured the departure of Alexander is the only fundamental change that occurred in the band around when their sound changed, and you've made your conclusions. Well let me tell you something, Alexander being involved during HCDR is the proof he was not responsible for the neo-classical influences. Quoting Roope: it's Alexi's baby, the others don't get involved too much. And quoting Alexi: he doesn't know what he was thinking back then, when making those neo-classical pieces. And my personal opinion is, it is not the neo-classical stuff that makes a lot of people bow to the old COB, it's the overall sound and the richness of melodies.

I do understand when a person leaves a band, the chemistry changes a bit, but you're making it too big.

Really can't say anything about that. Never saw either of them live etc.
I can only imagine that Roope is cooler to hang out with, funnier and nicer on stage.

And Gorth yes you are right but Nerve was being ironic. :)

For fuck sake let this thread die.
No.

Why?

It's a fair enough question.

I mean, it's got to be one of the only topics left on this forum that can still have debate in it.

Because this thread has been done so many times already. It goes like this:
- Old Bodom is better => Ale is better. It's all Roope's fault .
- But hey Roope influenced Alexi and is awesome player
- Ale is better.
- But Roope has composed lot of great songs in other bands
- Ale is better, I don't like Roope's songs.
- But Ale hasn't done anything outside Bodom
- Ale is better.
- Have you ever heard Ale playing anything else than bodom?
- Ale is better.

Alexi wrote 99% of the music when Alexander was in the band. Alexi writes the riffs then presents them to the band.

No, he wrote about 30% where the other 69% was stolen from various composers, plus the 1% originality from Alexander. Ale's chops are far superior to Roope's too, he has a way better sense of rhythm.

When you said this it led me to believe that your whole post was the opposite of the truth.
