Roope or Alexander?

Can someone tell me how we can say ale or roope's chops or stuff are better or worst? alexi composes almost everything in a song so he composes for the lead guitar and the 2nd guitar too, doesnt he? so how do we know when its alexi's composition or the other guitarist's one? i know its a stupid question and i hope ill have some clue.

When you said this it led me to believe that your whole post was the opposite of the truth.

If by the opposite of the truth you mean, more truthful than can be possibly truthful, 100% infallible then you are, by all definitions of the term, correct. Alexi "borrows" hundreds of riffs, its accepted, its in the books, its known. Bodom live with Ale was ten times better than Bodom live with Roope. Do you suppose thats because Alexi's playing started digressing, or because Ale has a better rhythm sense of the guitar and can hold his own better?

Ill give you the wikipedia definition:
"'Chops' refers to the basic set of musical skills a musician possesses, particularly in jazz."

and the urban dictionary definition:
Ability to play on any instrument (guitar, drums, brass, etc.). Used for guitar and drums because of the chopping motion made by the hand, and used for wind instruments because chops is also slang for one's mouth.

 thanks for this quick definition cause i thought it refered to something else actually... i must learn these technical words cause i always have a hard time trying to understand some discussions...

I said I would not post in here, but this is fucking ridiculous.

No, he wrote about 30% where the other 69% was stolen from various composers, plus the 1% originality from Alexander. Ale's chops are far superior to Roope's too, he has a way better sense of rhythm.

Are you out of your mind or high or just plainly stupid? Roope could pwn Ale hands tied. Easy for you: check Stone or Sinergy and then check what Ale has done out of COB.

You can say who is better by looking at the work they've done themselves (Stone, Sinergy, Waltari... Roope, the new rock thing band Ale has), or that's what you'd do with any other two players, but to the stubborn ''old bodom rocks now they suck'' kind of fans Roope and Ale come from a different land hence they are to be judged differently than any other two players in the world and eve though Roope has 304285683478 more chops Ale pwns him.

Holy fucking shit you're hopeless dude.

And you're going to tell me that Ale has more chops than Roope? That is NOT subjective, that is a fact and Roope has way more chops than Ale. Of course we can all speculate about how Ale, when he's quietly sitting at home in front of the computer, plays stuff that even Necrophagist dudes or Vai would freak out if they saw, but looking at what can be seen or heard (which in the real world are the things used to compare, Roope pwns Ale. Ale did his job great, and the tracks he recorded and played live sounded great, and he's no bad player, but Roope's parts sound awesome too and he IS better than Ale if we talk about chops.

Ive listened to Stone, Ive listened to Sinergy, Roope can play clean, he can play fast, but goddamn, his solos are annoying. I do understand the being the children of the children of bodom, you're incredibly jaded by what your bastard father and murdered grandfathers are doing, however youve completely missed the entire chops point, like this aint the same ballpark, its not even the same game, thats how much youve missed it by. I don't feel like arguing or trolling about who we think is better, I stated what I thought was right, and why, however im not going to use non-sequitur, ad hominem nonsense to back up my views. If you wanna debate lets do it about something far more interesting like politics or religion.

I've never been given such a retarded answer.

1. If trying to make fun of my username is the only thing you can think of, man you really need to work on, that was just lame.
2. Roope's solos are annoying? Why, cos he actually does them which your hero Alexander didn't? Tell me a single reason (but let it be good, not the ''I don't like them'' bullshit) why they could be annoying and I'll shut up.
3. I missed the chops point? I don't see how. As I already told you, if we start speculating with Ale's chops about what he does when noone can see him then we can name him the new god, but if we compare by what we can hear as it's usually done Roope is far better. Plays cleaner, plays more complicated stuff (which requires mroe ability), has more resources and is able to morph the riffs live and add cool sounding licks and has proven that he has way better writting abilities than Ale.

What you're saying equals to if I went ''Rex Brown (Pantera bassist) has never composed anything special himself (Darrel did all the Pantera stuff), but it's because he hasn't shown anything to us; at home he composes songs that would beat Chuck Schuldiner, Jari and Muhamed together''. Does it sound smart to you? Cos it's the same you're doing with Roope and Ale.

This is where I completely disagree, Alexander's live playing was much tighter than Roope's incredibly actually. This has nothing to do with Alexander or rex brown masturbating in their basements. My entire argument is based around a few basic facts which you can't seem to grasp. 1) Alexander has a far greater rhythm sense than Roope. 2) Roope's solos I find annoying, I don't like his style. So who is better for the band in my opinion? A person who lets someone who can obviously play solos much more tasteful than himself and supports him with an excellent rhythm sense or a person whos rhythm ability I don't find to be as tight and whos solos I find distasteful. Maybe that will make it easier for you, but I'm sure this concept is too difficult to grasp and is somewhat "retarded" because its different from your own personal beliefs. I get it you think Roope is a great guitar player, and from a technical standpoint he is, I just find his solos distasteful.

:erk:

That's pretty lame, dude.

^It's lame to say that Roope has more chops than Ale? Chops means ability when playing, so even if you disagree about writing and style (which is actually subjective so I won't call anyone moron for preferring Ale's style), you can't say that Ale is superior to Roope playing wise (which IS a fact).

Which leads me to:

Look, I don't care if you say that you prefer Ale or that you hate Roope or that you like old Bodom more, I just hate when people goes ''Ale WAS better'' or bullshit like that when there's no reason for saying this because he isn't. You may like his style of playing more, and I totally respect that, but you can't say that objectively, talking of chops or ability playing or whatever you want to call it, he's better than Roope.

spirit crusher, you are the most intelligent poster i have seen on this board in a long time. Bodom was just a way better band with Alexander in it. They were tighter live, and obviously their material was better.

I also can't stand people selling out Alexander's playing ability. He played very technical stuff and he played it very well. I mean the dude even played the solo to Red Light in my Eyes part 1 (there is a video on youtube) and played it flawlessly.

I totally agree about Roope's annoying solo's. Alexi has the best melodic sense of any guitarist i have ever heard, and if you listen to sinergy, you can tell when it is a Roope solo and an Alexi solo, because the Alexi solo's are just way more interesting and melodic.

All in all, damn i miss alexander, but it could have been inevitable that bodom's style was going to change because even hatecrew was a far cry from the first three. I mean i never in my life thought bodom would play in drop tuning (sixpounder e.g.), it just cheapens a song in my mind.

1. No

2. I have to disagree, Alexi and Roope have a very similar playing style and setup (Alexi even says this in an interview). Even people in the tab thread had a hard time figuring out who was soloing in Sinergy songs. Why does Alexi let Roope solo and not Ale? because he knows Roope has better chops.

Also, it is a fact that Alexi said he had to write for Ale's playing ability, which then said hasn't ever had to do with Roope.

i just got to add.....
i like roope because he looks like a real cool guy.
i prefer roope.
though i like the older stuff more....I STILL PREFER ROOPE:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:
