But I'm ok either way tbh. Agalloch are brilliant, but they haven't been around long. It'll be interesting to see how this vote would go in 20 years.

I can put RtL on now, and "Fight Fire with Fire", "Creeping Death", "Kthulu" etc etc all kick my ass like they did the first time I heard them. Granted, I just need a bit more volume these days.

P.S. I think "Fade to Black" is stunning. One of the best songs ever, of any genre.

I listened to this album for the first time in months, and was like "Wow, this fucker is GOOD."

Ride the Lightning has a certain aura to it that really makes it magical. I'm not even sure how to explain it, but it's like the album captures that brief moment right when the young and hungry aspect of a new band has settled itself into their niche, but still has a real spark and excited creative energy at full focus. Although I'm still mad at Burton getting a bum mix, particularly on his awesome solo in Ktulu. D'oh well.
